The Chase fans were quick to spot a powerful name connection between the latest batch of contestants.

Bradley Walsh was back to present another round of the quiz show and Friday's instalment welcomed a panel who all had something in common.

The ITV gameshow has form when it comes to linking players' names, and today's was among the best.

Today was time for Natasha, Thor, Steve and Tony to team up and face chaser Darragh Ennis.

Fans immediately went wild after the names were revealed, with many taking to Twitter to comment on the revelation.

One said: "Anybody else noticed they’ve all got Avengers names? #TheChase."

"The Avengers on The Chase. Natasha, Thor, Steve and Tony!!," another quipped.

A third viewer wrote: "Thor, Tony, Steve and Natasha? Clearly the producers at The Chase are Avengers fans.

While a fourth penned: "Tony, Steve, Thor and Natasha The Chase. Just need Clint and Bruce now."

The iconic names paid homage to Natasha Romanoff, Thor, Steve Rogers, and Tony Stark – four members of the superhero group The Avengers.

Tony, a retired signalman from Cheshire was first to face the chaser but sadly couldn't outrun The Menace.

After being caught, viewers couldn't help but make reference to his superhero counterpart once again, with one saying: "Oh Iron Man is out."

When it time was time for Thor to face the chaser, even The Menace couldn't let the opportunity slide without mentioning the link.

After Thor scored £2,000 in the cash builder, the 41-year-old said: "Well if it isn't Thor the insurance surveyor. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is really scraping the barrel at this point."

When Thor was eventually caught by the chaser, viewers couldn't help but make a joke in relation to the superhero's most treasured weapon.

"Thor got hammered," one penned.

Another joked: "Thor has been dealt a hammer blow by The Menace."

Natasha, 28, and Steve, 34, made it through to the final chase and managed to take home £5,500 with one second to spare.
