Strictly Come Dancing returns on BBC One this weekend and viewers will be keen to see who ends up in the dreaded dance-off. Last week it was Adam Peaty and Katya Jones who left the ballroom and at this stage of the contest, it is anyone’s game. Professional dancer Gary Edwards has suggested Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies could be next to leave.
Sara Davies and her partner Aljaz have had their ups and downs throughout the glitzy dance competition.
They have found themselves both at the top and bottom of the leaderboard, with Sara excelling in the ballroom dances.
She was saved by the public after her Couple’s Choice performance, which received mixed reviews from the judges.
They scored a total of 33 with their Quickstep to Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 last week, putting them on the top half of the leaderboard.
This weekend they will be dancing the Argentine Tango to No More Tears by Donna Summer and Barbra Streisand.
Professional dancer and judge, Gary Edwards, told Express.co.uk their time could be up soon.
He said: “If you are looking at dancing, you are looking at Dan [Walker] and Nadiya [Bychkova] and Sara and Aljaz in the bottom two.
“I adore Aljaz, I think he’s such a character but their personality is going to really turn the public.
“We are at this stage in the competition where everyone is so likeable, there’s not one couple I would want to send home.
“I think I would rather be hiding under the desk than choosing a couple.”
He said although Sara has excelled in ballroom, her Latin dances are not up to scratch.
He added: “Sara hasn’t got that dance ability the others have got. She’s got timing, she can basically stay on the beat.
“She’s got for me one of the best partnering pros on the show, he certainly gets 150 per cent out of her which is very key when it comes to Strictly.
“But I have got ‘way better than expected’, great movement, ballroom is her thing. However, if it’s Latin she’s in trouble.”
On what score he would have given the couple in their latest dance, he said: “I probably would have gone a seven or eight.
“But it was still way better than I expected – it’s still definitely the bottom two for me.
“If she dances Latin next time, on the dancing side she will definitely be the favourite to go.
“But she has got ballroom on her side. You can see she just loves dancing ballroom.”
With the Argentine Tango being a Latin dance, Sara could find herself in trouble this week.
If she ends up towards the bottom of the leaderboard, Aljaz could find himself and his partner out of the competition.
Sara is on Instagram and she has opened up to fans about how difficult it has been juggling Strictly with family life.
She said: “No rest for the wicked! #footballmum this morning! Drove back up north after strictly last night, got in at 4am, few hours kip and back up at 8am to support the little man at his big game.
“I’ve missed so much family stuff these past couple of months so the precious few moments I get for a bit of normality I’m clinging onto with both hands!
“Even if it does mean freezing my butt off whilst struggling to keep my eyes open – the smile on our Oliver’s little face when he looked up and saw me walk into the ground (he didn’t know I was coming and had left the house with me fast asleep in bed still) was worth it all and more! #familytime.” [Sic]
