Strictly's Oti Mabuse puts Jordan Banjo through his paces backstage at Strictly for The Greatest Dancer promo

The 28-year-old professional – who is set to be a judge on the forthcoming programme alongside Cheryl Tweedy and Glee's Matthew Morrison – decided to put the Diversity member's dancing ability to the test as she taught him the moves.

Before The Greatest Dancer hits the screen next month, Oti decided to take Jordan – who will present the show alongside Alesha Dixon – on a backstage tour of the Strictly set, including hair, make-up, the alterations area and behind the judges desk.

Speaking in the teaser clip, Oti said to the Diversity member: "I have a very special day planned for you . Do you want to come behind the scenes?"

As the 25 year old is taken on the tour, he continuously attempts to ditch his break dancing ways and perfect the swift head turn and other ballroom moves.

Jordan received dance tips from professionals Janette Manrara, her husband Aljaž Škorjanec, and Nadiya Bychkova, as well as Oti.

As he attempts to perfect the rigid frame for a ballroom dance with Janette, the 6'6" star says: "Am I too big to be partnered with somebody? Every time I make this shape I think you will judge me."

Jordan then goes on to practice  with Aljaz, before putting the skills he learnt to the test on the dancefloor with Oti.

For the first stop of Jordan's tour Oti – who was partnered with Graeme Swann on this year's Strictly – took Ashley Banjo's brother to the costume area.

Oti revealed the costume department keep every single outfit created for all contestants throughout the series.

Standing beside rails filled with dazzling ensembles, she said: "This is the costume section. So they have to bring up all the costumes of every single week that we've had. We are going to go into the costume room"

When contestants are given their costumes, there is then a separate section for alterations.

The beauty continued: "So now we are going into quick change. After the costumes are made we have to come in here for them to get cutting and for us to try them on."

In Strictly's backstage area there is also a separate room where hair and make-up is perfected.

She said: "This is my favourite part, this is hair and make up."

Jordan was lucky enough to step foot on the dancefloor of the Strictly studio, which is located in Elstree, before he slipped behind the judges' desk.

Oti said: "You still have to go inside the studios to see the pros dance."

During the tour, Jordan also got a closer look of the upstairs area in the studio where contestants go after they have wowed judges on the dancefloor to discuss their routine with co-host Claudia Winkleman before the marks come in.

The Greatest Dancer is an eight-part series, and will hit screens on Saturday 5 January on BBC One.

The programme aims to find the UK's best dancers in every specialism – from Bollywood to jazz, and tap to tango.
