Strictly judge Shirley Ballas reveals doctor’s ‘concerning’ test results in hospital after fans spot lump under armpit

STRICTLY Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas has revealed a lump spotted by fans during the live shows has proven ‘concerning’ to doctors.

The 61-year-old professional dancer was encouraged to seek medical advice after viewers of the BBC favourite noticed a protrusion under her arm.

Now it seems that there is more to it than initially believed, with Shirley posting an update on Instagram revealing she was getting further testing.

She wrote: “So blood work back. A little concerning so dr is making an appointment at kings to check certain odd things happening in my body I won’t go into the details at the moment.

“Any way to each and every one of you who started me on this road thank you so much. I’ll keep you all updated each and every one of you.

“Remember health is wealth so I’ll be on top of these issues for the time being. With gratitude to you all. #health #gratitude”

In the video, Shirley talks directly to camera in a little further detail, explaining her hormone levels were ‘a little concerning’ as her oestrogen levels are 'extremely low'.

She will now be getting scans on her adrenal glands and ovaries at at King's College Hospital in London.

At the time of the lump discovery, Shirley expressed her gratitude to those that reached out to express their concerns.

She added that while the doctors couldn’t feel anything, something gave the issue away – though she’s unsure if it was down to the cameras or lighting of the Strictly studio.

“Dear All thank you so much for making me aware of a lump you all saw under my arm. I am so grateful to have so many beautiful kind caring humans looking out for me,” she wrote.

“I will be popping to the hospital Friday for full blood work. Hormones could be the reason for exhaustion, sleepless nights and a few more things going on.

“I'm so happy I went for a check up today. Ladies let me know how your hormones are? Do you self check? Hugs to all.”

Her Strictly co-stars were quick to send their love, with Motsi Mabuse adding: “Take care of yourself.”

Nikita Kuzmin wrote: “Wishing you all the best Shirley”, a sentiment shared by Tess Daly.

John Whaite, who’s competing in this year’s competition, added: “Sending you so much love Shirley.”

While Adam Peaty wrote: “Sending all my love and positive energy”

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One.
