BBC viewers were finally able to tune-in to Strictly Come Dancing’s launch show last weekend as it was revealed who the stars would be coupled up with during their stints on the show. As fans already start to speculate who they think could emerge victorious this year, one person who has been tipped to win is Maisie Smith, who is currently the bookmakers’ favourite to win the show. The contestant recently shared some advice she’d been given by Scott Maslen – who told her to make sure she “keeps eating” amid the gruelling training she’ll endure throughout the process.
Last weekend, viewers saw each pairing unveiled during the long-awaited launch show.
This week, the couples have been taking to the training room to work on their newfound dance moves ahead of tonight’s first routines.
One star who has been one-to-watch since the line-up was announced is soap star, Maisie Smith.
The 19-year-old EastEnders actress is at the top of bookmakers odds to take the Glitterball Trophy this year.
She will be dancing with fan-favourite Gorka Marquez, who has been reinstated as a competing professional this year.
Prior to her appearance on the programme, Maisie spoke to Express.co.uk and other press about some very sensible advice she had been given by a co-star.
EastEnders fans saw Jack Branning actor Scott Maslen made it all the way to the semi-final back in 2010.
Maisie revealed what her on-screen uncle had warned her, saying: “Scott Maslen told me I was going to lose a lot of weight so keep eating!”
With the stars expected to train for hours-on-end every single day, it seems as though Scott’s advice will prove vital.
As well as Scott, a host of other EastEnders names have previously taken part in the show.
Honey Mitchell star Emma Barton came third last year, with former EastEnders star Kara Tointon winning back in 2010.
Talking of her co-star’s reaction to her signing up, she explained how they couldn’t be more pleased.

Maisie gushed: “They’re just so excited. They’ve all said this is the most amazing experience.”
She received some more words of wisdom as well, adding: “They’ve all said it’s the most amazing but it really took it out of them. They said, ‘Be prepared for the long days.’
“And, you know what, I’m looking forward to it; it’ll be something different. In a lockdown, I wasn’t doing anything, so it’s a nice change.”
It’s not Maisie’s first time on the famous dance floor as the star took part in last year’s Children in Need special.
Maisie danced alongside former Strictly professional Kevin Clifton and they ended up taking the trophy.
But the star – who explained she only trained for five days for last year’s special – insisted: “I don’t think that’s prepared me for what’s about to come.
“I mean it helps me in a way. I’ve understood how much hard work you have to put in and how many hours. But I’m still not ready,” she teased.
With Maisie looking to shine on the dance floor, could she end up taking the title with Gorka?
Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight at 7:25pm on BBC One.
