DEAR DEIDRE: WHEN my partner cheated on me, he made me feel I wasn’t good enough for him. Even though he’s promised he will never…
Coronation Street’s Christmas Day will descend into horror tonight as Winter Wonderland becomes a scene of violence and death – but as a drunk Derek Milligan (Craige Els) loses control and goes on an armed rampage, who will die before the year is out?
The mood is high initially, with Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) planning a romantic surprise for David (Jack P Shepherd) on his birthday. But elsewhere, the fallout from Robert Preston’s (Tristan Gemmill) rage at Michelle Connor’s (Kym Marsh) revenge continues, leading to a tense stand-off.
Sarah (Tina O’Brien) has a more romantic time of things as she enjoys spending time with Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) but as locals gather in the Rovers to raise a glass to the festive season and each other, Derek bursts in, armed and angry.
Gary Windass (Mikey North) knows that he is here for him and tries to calm the situation down but as Derek feels he has nothing to loose, the gun goes off and the locals run for their lives, hiding in the Winter Wonderland as Derek is loose and dangerous.
Gary tries to avert tragedy and eventually tackles Derek and they have a fight atop the helter skelter. Meanwhile, having hidden among the decorations to surprise David, Shona is right in the firing line and a devastating turn of events unfolds as David fears he will lose her forever.
Meanwhile, worried that they might not get out of this unscathed, Adam puts his heart on the line for Sarah and asks her to marry him if they survive the shooting. As Derek unleashes more shots into crowds, not everyone survives.
And as the dust settles and the community reels from what has happened, bad news about somebody’s fate is about to be delivered. And more than one life may continue to hang in the balance as a neighbourhood mourns and recovers.
Coronation Street airs these scenes on Christmas Day at 8pm on ITV.
