A BUILDER is on a mission to dispel the idea of haunted houses this Halloween, by proving that dodgy pipes and creaky stairs are the…
It’s been a confusing and tricky time for Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) in Emmerdale of late. She was disowned by her family after starting a relationship with Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln), which turned out to all be part of her plan to get Jamie arrested after he ran over Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb).
Life as Belle Dingle hasn’t been easy – she’s had trouble at school, been arrested, had a relationship with an older man, and struggled with her mental health – and that’s not even the half of it!
Since Belle’s idea to destroy Jamie was revealed, it’s safe to say she’s been struggling to cope with the fact that she betrayed her family (albeit for a worthy cause) and was with Kim Tate’s (Claire King) son.
While Belle has managed to let the whole village know that Jamie was responsible for the hit and run, we get the feeling everything is about to get a whole lot worse for this young Dingle, and we’re taking a look at what could be next for her:
A battle with Jamie?
To say Jamie is annoyed Belle double crossed him is a bit of an understatement. We’ve really seen Jamie show his bad side lately, and his determination to do whatever he can to stay out of prison is growing stronger, and when it comes to Jamie, if it means revenge on Belle – then so be it. Jamie thinks he’s smart, but the issue for him is, Belle is smart too! We might have a bit of a battle on our hands soon, as Belle and Jamie start a feud to prevent themselves from life behind bars.
But if Belle attempts any sort of revenge on Jamie, the anger he feels towards her could make his attempt at getting back at Belle ten times worse, but is Belle really strong enough to destroy Jamie on her own?
Mental health issues?
One of Belle’s most memorable storylines is the start of her ongoing struggle with her mental health. The story saw the young teen hear the voice of her dead friend Gemma, which controlled her and eventually led to Belle being sectioned. Given all that Belle has put herself through in recent months, maybe we will be seeing her battle with her mental health issues again?
The trauma of everything that’s happened with Belle and the guilt she feels for betraying her family means there’s potential it’ll lead to an internal fight, but would it go as far as her hearing voices again? And if Belle keeps the fact that she can’t cope a secret, how bad will things get for her until someone notices something isn’t right?
Will she feel bad for lying to Jamie?
There can be an overwhelming sense of emotions after betraying someone, and for Belle who is already feeling bad for tricking the Dingles, perhaps she is about to feel the same way towards Jamie? When Jamie and Belle were together, there were some scenes (alright, maybe only a few) that showed they were happy together! It’s possible Belle may still have feelings for Jamie, and tries to apologise to him for what she put him through, but we think Belle would only set herself up for a fall if this does happen. Jamie wants revenge! He knows he wouldn’t survive in prison, so he’s prepared to go to extreme lengths to protect himself so if Belle tries to say sorry, we think it’ll only make things for her.
It’s not looking good, is it? But maybe support from someone else can help Belle in her attempts to expose Jamie and his crimes?
Will Andrea support her?
Andrea (Anna Nightingale) has plainly said that she will stick by Belle and help her get Jamie arrested – which is great! The problem? We’re starting to wonder whether Andrea will actually help Belle at all. We’ve seen Jamie threaten Andrea already and say to her that unless she sticks by him, she’ll be going down with him, and Friday’s episode left us on a cliff-hanger after Andrea said to Jamie that there’s one thing he could do to change her mind. Is Andrea about to betray Belle to save herself from going to prison with Jamie? Belle’s affair with Jamie was also the reason Andrea’s marriage was destroyed, so she may team up with Jamie and deceive Belle, leaving her on her own, which is guaranteed to only increase Belle problems.
Prison for Jamie’s crimes?
On Friday Belle spent time being questioned by the police after Jamie framed her for the hit and run. While Belle thought she would be free to go with no evidence it was her behind the wheel, a spanner was thrown into the works, when it was revealed the police had CCTV footage of her in Jamie’s car.
Poor Belle had completely forgotten about using Jamie’s car, which hasn’t helped her situation, and with Nate (Jurell Carter) also being questioned during Friday’s episode, it’s looking like Jamie is currently winning. The CCTV footage is what Jamie needs to help frame Belle, so is it really all over for her? And she’s potentially about to be put in prison for a crime she didn’t commit?
Gives up and lets Jamie win?
It’s not been long since Belle had Jamie arrested, and already she’s finding things difficult. She’s pretty determined to have Jamie pay for his crimes, but depending on just how dark things are about to get, could Belle give up and let Jamie win instead?
If things get too much for her, and if her mental health is about to take a dip, her desperation for things to be normal again may mean she lets Jamie win if it’s easier for her than fighting with him.
However, a Dingle letting a Tate win a feud probably wouldn’t go down well, but maybe Belle doesn’t have to end her plan completely?
Group revenge from the Dingles?
If the Dingles begin to see Belle is finding things tricky, they could give themselves the collective responsibility of destroying Jamie on Belle’s behalf. Her plan to get her ex to pay for leaving Moira for dead would still go ahead, and if all of the Dingle’s set about on a group revenge on Jamie, it could give him quite the shock – there’s some powerful characters in that family!
It would be the perfect way to get rid of Jamie and ensure Belle doesn’t get herself into further bother, but the only issue is, sometimes the Dingles go a little too far…so could they go a little OTT on Jamie’s revenge and create even more problems?
Whatever may happen with Belle, there’s one thing for certain, living a quiet and calm life isn’t on the horizon for her. There’s already been loads of drama since she started her affair with Jamie, but there’s so much more still to come…
