The last thing that Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) wanted to see in Coronation Street was the love of his partner Billy Mayhew’s (Daniel Brocklebank) life, Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), back on the scene.
But while that is bad enough – not to mention that Todd isn’t exactly being subtle about wanting his ex back – Paul is left shellshocked when he is led to believe that Billy has confided in Todd over the fact he was sexually abused as a child by his stepfather Kel.
Billy meanwhile confides in Paul that he’s getting cold feet about the archdeacon position. Paul worries he’s changed his mind because Todd is back on the scene.
Todd takes great delight in winding Paul up. Billy implores Todd to stop causing trouble but when Todd admits he still has feelings for him how will Billy react?
Todd reminds Billy how good they were together and suggests he doesn’t really want to be with Paul. Billy refuses to be swayed, but as he heads out, his eyes fill with tears.
Todd offers Paul a hollow apology but when he intimates Billy’s told him what a tough time he’s had Paul’s furious. Billy assures him he hasn’t said a word about Kel.
But the fact that this has come up between them is a warning sign and with Todd clearly under Billy’s skin, Paul fears for their future as a couple after everything they have been through.
Billy assures Paul that Todd was the love of his life, but not anymore. Paul remains unconvinced, worried that Billy has settled for second best.
Billy reveals he’s postponed his interview, Paul asserts that’s exactly what Todd wants and orders Billy to phone them back and tell them he’s on his way.
Billy and Paul return after Billy’s interview for archdeacon but as Billy bangs on about Todd and how manipulative he is, Paul has had enough.
Is it all over?
