Shocking suicide drama confirmed for killer Stephen in Corrie
Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) continues to maintain that Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox) is struggling with her mental health in Coronation Street, despite the fact that he knows she’s absolutely fine.
This plan comes after Stephen’s failed attempt at murdering Elaine. He drugged her with caffeine pills which resulted in Elaine collapsing, but she was then rushed to hospital and, after a period of recovery time, she’s now back to full health.
Stephen wants Elaine dead as he knows that he’ll get a substantial amount of money in the life insurance afterwards. Stephen’s focus is always cash, and his future was put in jeopardy recently when Owen (Ben Hull) announced his plans to kick Stephen out of Underworld and leave him with nothing.

This week, after Tim (Joe Duttine) makes his dislike of Stephen clear and announces that he’s not coming to the wedding, Elaine writes her son a letter, telling him how much he’s hurt her and how she can’t take it anymore.
The letter happens as a result of Stephen’s manipulation. He then finds Doctor Gaddas and says that he’s worried Elaine is depressed, refusing to seek help and might do something drastic.
Stephen also plants the seed in Sally’s (Sally Dynevor) head, who then tells Tim that Stephen thinks Elaine is suffering from depression.
As a new week begins, Audrey (Sue Nicholls) is surprised to see Elaine feeling so upbeat. Stephen tells his mum that it’s probably all an act and he’s worried that Elaine might try and end her life.
But what is Stephen up to here?
Is he going to continue telling this story with the intention of murdering Elaine at the end?
