Countdown star Rachel Riley, 35, was surprised on Friday’s episode of the popular Channel 4 gameshow as her daughter Maven and Strictly Come Dancing husband Pasha Kovalev made a special appearance. After presenter Anne Robinson announced that it was Rachel’s 3,000th episode, Pasha walked out with a massive bouquet of flowers carrying their two-year-old daughter. However, Maven didn’t seem too impressed when it was time to leave her mum as she burst into tears.
Introducing the show, Anne Robinson said: “Hello and welcome to Countdown.
“Rachel I know you’re an expert at counting, so you probably know that today is your 3,000th episode.”
Looking stunned and confused at the figure, she replied: “No… I didn’t! 3,000th, right what do I get? Come on, guys.”
“I’m just going to tell you,” Anne quipped, “there are two people here who want to congratulate you.”
As the audience applauded, Pasha walked out from the side of the stage with Maven and a lovely bunch of flowers for his wife.

Laughing at the surprise, Rachel bent down to pick up her daughter and said: “Hello, poppet! Have you just woken up? Look at your lovely hair!
“Mummy’s very old, she’s been here a very long time,” she joked, “How many episodes have you watched, not 3,000,” she asked Maven.
Turning to Pasha, Rachel exclaimed: “Very sneaky people!”
After setting down her flowers and taking Maven back, Pasha walked off stage not before turning around and giving Rachel a wave goodbye.
“Maven, say bye to everybody,” Pasha said.
Viewers then saw her little face scrunch up before she started to cry when Rachel said: “Oh, she’s going to cry. She’s going to cry, oh darling.”
After the show, Rachel took to Twitter to express her gratitude, writing: “Loved my surprised visitors for my 3000th show today! However, one of them was particularly disappointed when it was time to go.
“Thanks for the gorgeous flowers @C4Countdown,” alongside a bunch of flowers emoji.

Fans of Rachel’s commented in response to her tweet congratulating her, with one writing: “A massive congratulations Rachel! Your 3000 shows seem to have come around so fast. I’ll be watching.”
Another added: “What a lovely surprise. Here’s to the next 3000 and beyond.”
Rachel joined Countdown aged 22 after completing a degree in mathematics at Oxford, replacing former presenter Carol Vorderman.
Rachel and Pasha welcomed Maven in December 2019, shortly after they tied the knot earlier the same year in Las Vegas after meeting on Strictly Come Dancing in 2013, where they were partnered together.
The couple are now expecting their second child, due in August. However, Rachel has previously admitted she didn’t want to leave it too late to have children.
Speaking on the matter, she explained: “I’m 35, and I’ve got friends that are struggling with fertility, and you just never know if you’re going to be able to get pregnant, we have been really lucky, touch wood, and we’re very excited.”
Rachel has also previously admitted that her daughter often mistakes her for sports presenter Gabby Logan, 48.
She tweeted out to her 667,000 followers: “Every day we’re at Media City, my daughter points at this and says ‘Mamma!'” alongside an image of BBC sports presenters Gabby, Alex Scott, Jermaine Jenas, Ian Wright, Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer.
“If you ever fancy looking after a toddler @GabbyLogan, she clearly wouldn’t notice the difference.”
Gabby replied: “What a compliment, I was only saying today I miss toddler, I’ll swap you for a 16-year-old.” (sic)
Countdown airs every weekday at 2pm on Channel 4.
