Phillip Schofield has worn a rainbow badge to host This Morning in the first public nod to his sexuality since coming out as gay in February 2020.

The 59 year old bravely opened up on his sexuality live on the daytime show he presents with Holly Willoughby last year, but hasn't commented on the news since.

However, he celebrated his sexuality on Wednesday's show as the programme marked the end of Pride month.

Pride is celebrated every June as that is when the historic Stonewall riots took place in the United States in 1969, finally changing rights for gay people.

Phillip pointed out the addition to his outfit at the top of Wednesday's show, telling viewers: "Today is the final day of Pride month and is also ITV Pride Day, which is why we've got our badges on here."

Holly, 40, then giggled: "And my subtle skirt, here, which I thought I'd put on," referencing the bright rainbow coloured skirt she wore to celebrate the occasion.

The Cube host Phillip cheekily added: "Yeah, I've got my rainbow pants on," before continuing with the show.

Later on, he explained the added colours of the flag, saying: "Lots of people have been asking about the badge.

"It's been updated so many times over the years, this is the progress Pride flags that we are wearing.

"The white, pink and light blue reflect the colours of the transgender flag, while the brown and black represent people of colour and those lost to AIDs, so that's the progress Pride flag which is updated."

Holly took to Instagram to show off her incredible outfit, with the mum-of-three captioning her usual outfit snap with: "Today marks the end of Pride month but is also @itv Pride day!

"Today on @thismorning we celebrate the LGBT+ community with a performance from the incredible @marishawallace … #loveislove #pride"

The colourful skirt was from high street brand Anthropologie and was paired with a crisp white shirt from Zara.

Many of Holly's 7.2million Instagram followers took to flooding the comments with praise as one posted saying: "I love this so much!!"

Whilst other's followed with: "Wow that’s such a beautiful skirt" and "Wow Holly that skirt is very bright and Colourful great way to end pride month."
