Fans of Peaky Blinders know how dedicated Aunt Polly is to being a good mother to son Michael (played by Finn Cole) despite disproving of his relationship with Gina Gray (Anya Taylor Joy). She’s not been best pleased to learn Michael has been working against Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and it seems she may have turned her back on her son. But, as fans wait for the sixth series, actress Helen has teased Aunt Polly won’t really be able to give up Michael.

Speaking about Michael’s late addition to the family, Helen recalled: “When Michael joins up with his true family, he’s drawn to the dark side of the Shelbys and I’ve brought him to that life.
“He was living in a lovely place with little apple trees in the garden, where he could play football.
“Then I introduce him to a mob of gun-slinging, coke-snorting maniacs – this is my family!
“So there is a dichotomy, where Polly wants him close, but she’s worried for Michael as he becomes something very different.”
Polly has tried to keep Michael away from the drama but as he wants to help move the Shelby business forwards, he makes moves against Tommy.
Tommy wants Michael out of the picture and has threatened his place in the family, with Polly’s support so far.
But as it sinks in Polly may lose Michael and her grandchildren for good, could she turn on Tommy and do what she can to help her son take his place at the head of the family?
Commenting on how Michael is a big concern to Tommy, Helen shared: “He later begins to threaten Tommy’s power in his role as part of the new generation of the Shelby business.
“He says to the old school, ‘Your way is sh*t.’ But that’s the way of the world.
“That’s what’s fantastic about Steve Knight’s writing.
“He’s taking a family over different dynasties, showing how they’re going to fight, and where the tensions are within their lives and relationships. “
Helen went on to add all Polly wants at the end of the day is for Michael to be happy and safe.

“She wants to save her son from the pain she experienced herself, which is what every parent wants,” she continued.
But it may be that Aunt Polly doesn’t need to step in to betray Tommy as some fans think Grace Shelby’s (Annabelle Wallis) ex-husband’s family will investigate his death.
Viewers are certain Tommy is to blame for his demise despite his death being ruled as suicide.
One Reddit user theorised: “All we’ve heard is ‘her family thought it was an accident, don’t tell them it was suicide.’
“Is that it? No other detail? Do we think Tommy had something to do with it?
“Or maybe Grace said, ‘Yeah it wasn’t me because I got knocked up after one time with another guy.’
“When it was said I assumed that she left him, he found out the baby was Tommy’s and he killed himself.
“Then instead of the shame of all that happening, they made it look like he died in an accident? I don’t know just what I thought.”
Could Tommy be jailed for the death Grace’s late husband allowing Michael to step up and lead the family?
