Nicole Kidman is reuniting with Big Little Lies writer on new project

After their success at the Golden Globes with Big Little Lies, writer Liane Moriarty is now re-teaming with Nicole Kidman on a new project.

Titled Nine Perfect Strangers and based on Moriarty’s soon-to-be published novel, The Hollywood Reporter shared that Kidman has nabbed the lead role and will also take on producing responsibilities.

Moriarty, who’s the author of Big Little Lies and The Husband’s Secret, couldn’t be happier with the upcoming collaboration.

She said: “I’m so very happy and thrilled to once again be working with Nicole, Per [Saari] and Bruna [Papandrea].”

“They are such talented, passionate people and I have no doubt that whatever they do with my Nine Perfect Strangers, it will be brilliant. I’m honoured by their faith in this book — even before I’d written ‘the end’ they believed in it, and I just feel very lucky to have had them come into my life,” she continued.

Set for a November bookshelf release, Nine Perfect Strangers takes place at a remote health resort where several people are gathered to reboot their lives. Frances Welty (Kidman) is the tale’s protagonist; a former bestselling romance novelist attempting to mend a broken heart.

It’s still unconfirmed whether the adaptation of this material will be presented as a TV series or a feature-length movie.

Big Little Lies is currently in production on the second season, with an eye to air on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic next year.
