Amy (played by Jacinta Stapleton) has been at the centre of a lot of drama on Neighbours since she returned to the Channel 5 soap in 2020. Just as it seemed she had finally settled into life in Erinsborough, her past came back to haunt her as Zara (Freya Van Dyke) came looking for her estranged mother who she seems to have a strong dislike for the Ramsay Street favourite. In upcoming scenes, Amy will be admitted to hospital following a row with her teenage daughter but could Zara have something to do with it and could this lead to her mother’s exit from the show?
The drama kicks off next as Amy is still suffering from some of the injuries she sustained during the storm which ripped through Ramsay Street.
She has also lost her job as the storm destroyed the Flamingo Bar, which she was the manager of before the disaster.
This leads to huge worries for the beloved character as she has to think carefully about how she is going to finance herself and her daughter.
In a split second decision whilst job hunting, she decides to start a new business and begin a new venture but immediately regrets being so impulsive.
At the same time, Zara will have begun studying at the local high school but she gets into some bother with her teachers and classmates.
With so much on her plate at school, learning about her mother investing in a new business leaves her feeling angry.
As a result, she ends up setting off the fire alarms at the school to cause a commotion and is reprimanded by Jane Harris (Annie Jones).
Initially, Amy is furious with her daughter for being so reckless and for causing so much disruption but it’s not long before she is softening.
Amy’s daughter explains she only did it to get some attention from her mother, making the beloved character feel bad.
The mother and daughter soon put their differences aside and it seems they are going to be turning over a new leaf.
Nothing is off the cards
However, it’s not long before Zara is lashing out at there mother again and this time, it results in Amy fighting for her life.
Storming off from the row, the teenager pushes her mother hard and because Amy hasn’t recovered from her injuries, she feels the pain.
In a huge amount of pain and discomfort, the beloved character falls to the ground and clutches her stomach hard.
As she calls out for help, her daughter ends up leaving her to fend for herself as she doesn’t believe her mother is seriously injured.
Soon, the mother of three has passed out and it’s only because Ned Willis (Ben Hall) finds her she is able to get to the hospital.
Once she’s with the medical team, it’s a long wait for Ned and Zara as they wait to hear whether she has pulled through.
The teenager is full of guilt as she knows she could have done more to help her mother, who desperately needed her help.
If Amy dies as a result of this, her daughter could be looking at a spell behind bars as she tells the police she was responsible for her mother’s death.
It would be a heartbreaking end to Amy’s time on the show as she finally felt as if she had made a breakthrough with her daughter.
But will Zara keep her deadly secret harboured and fail to tell the authorities she had a part to play in the whole thing?
Speaking exclusively with Express.co.uk about her character’s latest storyline, the actress who plays Amy, Jacinta, said she isn’t shocked by her daughter’s reckless behaviour.
The soap star said: “Oh I don’t think Amy is shocked, as she just sees herself in Zara.
“It’s exactly how Amy first started out in Erinsborough! But Amy understands Zara and understands where she is coming from.
But she also holds a lot of guilt and thinks it’s her fault that Zara is acting up, so she almost takes the blame for a lot of Zara’s actions.
“The dynamic between Amy and Zara is so fraught, with Amy feeling guilty and Zara being angry and resentful, and a lot of the people on Ramsay Street have kids and ‘know what they’re doing’ as a parent.”
Asked if Zara’s presence on Ramsay Street could end up with Amy leaving the show, the actress said: “I’m not sure.
“Nothing is off the cards, Amy has left before, so she could leave again,” the soap star added so could she have been hinting at Amy’s demise?
Discussing being back on the show for over a year now, Jacinta explained: “It’s so fun – Amy is just so fun and fabulous.
“Dressing up in Amy’s heels with her dresses and lots of hot pink outfits is really gorgeous, I just love it.
“Amy is a really fun and dynamic character and I adore playing her,” she remarked so could this be another precursor to making an exit as she reflects back on her time on the show?
