The countdown to the royal wedding has officially begun. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have all of their details in a row for their big day. Though the dress has been commissioned, the cake has been ordered, and the invitations have been sent out, there is one major issue that the royal couple will have to face.
With all of the mania and the hoopla surrounding the lovebirds, they are also confronting some very real danger. Here are the seven very alarming issues that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be facing on the happiest day of their lives.
7. Down with the monarchy

As obsessed as we are with everything royal, the British royal family also faces a great deal of danger every single day.
Dai Davies, a former Head of Royal Protection and Chief Superintendent of the Metropolitan Police Service spoke with E! News and said, “History has a habit of repeating itself. In the last thousand years, there hasn’t been a King or Queen that someone hasn’t tried to murder.”

6. Racist undertones

Since the former Suits actress is mixed-race and an outspoken feminist, she’s garnered as any enemies as she has fans. Already, the engaged couple has been sent threats including a letter riddled with racist rhetoric and hate and an anthrax-like substance.
Also, the fact that the prince served in the military and was stationed in Afghanistan has also made him rather vulnerable to hatred.

When Prince William and Duchess Kate Middleton tied the knot back in 2011, it cost an astounding $33 million to keep them safe. According to E! News, the funds went to snipers on rooftops, undercover police in the crowd, months of investigations by counter-terrorism officers, and an extensive search for explosives in any possible hiding place.
Davies tells E! News, “Thousands of people will be working on keeping the family and their fans safe. This is a time to be extremely prudent and sensible. Every precaution needs to be taken.”
We won’t be surprised if the security bill for Markle and Prince Harry tops Duchess Kate and Prince William’s.

Because they have taken pity on us peasants, Markle and Prince Harry have invited thousands of members of the public to their wedding. After the ceremony, the royal couple will also take a carriage procession through Windsor. Unfortunately, these two things are going to make matters even more difficult for security.
Davis revealed, “Windsor is a much harder area to secure than London, which is so much better prepared. In Windsor, there are shops, buildings, houses, you name it, and there is a history of people trying to get into Windsor Castle.”
Next: Delusional people

Though it might seem amplified because of social media, the royals are used to threats against them. In fact, like their predecessors, the most prominent threat Prince Harry and Markle will face is stalkers.
Dr. David James, a psychiatrist formerly with the Fixated Threat Assessment Centre, spoke with E! News saying,
Royalty tends to attract people who have strange delusions and are mentally ill. Some people think they are related to them, others think they are already married to them, or they may think the royal family is responsible for the strange implants in their head. At any one time there can be hundreds of people obsessed with them. There are databases of the people who have been aggressive in the past.
Before the wedding, certain fixated people will be stopped from traveling to the area where the ceremony is taking place. Most of these people are well known. But there is always the chance that someone unknown wakes up and suddenly says, “This is my moment. This is my destiny.”

2. All the royals in one place

Everyone will be on high alert on May 19th, especially because Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding means that all of the royals will be in one place. The only person who might miss the event is Prince William and Duchess Kate’s newborn baby.
Luckily, like the rest of us across the pond, the baby will be able to live vicariously through photos and videos.
Next: Knowing the route
1. A planned route

Since The Fab Four (Markle, Duchess Kate, Prince Harry and Prince William) are royals of the people, it’s no wonder that Markle and her prince want the public to have every opportunity to see them on their wedding day. Because of this, Buckingham Palace has already revealed the royal carriage’s exact route for the wedding processional.
The palace press release stated, “Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have said they want their wedding day to be shaped so as to allow members of the public to feel part of the celebrations too.” However, knowing the exact timing and locations might prove tricky for security reasons.
Dr. James told E! News, “It means the security planning can be well prepared. They can stop certain fixated people traveling to the area, anyone with an old grievance, who is mentally ill and who has shown signs. What’s important is that the security is unobtrusive so as not to detract from the celebratory nature of this occasion.”
