Major devastation in Hollyoaks as Juliet's cancer treatment isn't working

Juliet Nightingale (Niamh Blackshaw) was left heartbroken in Hollyoaks after learning that her cancer hasn’t responded to the treatment she’s been receiving.

The teen, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma late last year, has been undergoing chemotherapy in recent months, and was due at the hospital for an update following a scan.

The doctor had some emotional news to deliver, as he confirmed that the cancer wasn’t responding to the treatment in heartbreaking scenes.

Juliet was devastated, as the medical professional explained that the next course of action would be a more severe form of treatment, which will require more sessions than the previous.

Heartbroken from the news, Juliet told her loved ones – including Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell) – that the treatment had been successful, before drowning her sorrows at Prince McQueen’s (Malique Thompson-Dyer) house party.

Peri, however, knew full well that something was up, and after Juliet fell from a table while dancing, she proceeded to quiz her about what it was that was on her mind.

Jules stormed out, before ultimately revealing the truth of her situation, breaking down in Peri’s arms.

Upcoming scenes will see Peri prove supportive, as she encourages Juliet to call a family meeting.

Donna-Marie Quinn (Lucy-Jo Hudson), however, jumps to conclusions, believing that the big news is that Juliet and Peri have reunited.

Peri, meanwhile, admits to Juliet that she still cares about her, but the former couple ultimately decide not to get back together.

Hollyoaks continues Friday January 20 at 7pm on E4, or stream the next episode from midnight on All4.
