Lucifer Morningstar and Chloe Decker had a mix-up of epic proportions when the devil briefly lost his mojo in season five. Thanks to some clues spotted by a perceptive viewer, the root of Lucifer’s supernatural powers may have been solved before the series continues on Netflix.

Fans of Netflix’s smash hit fantasy series were in for a treat this year after Lucifer Morningstar (played by Tom Ellis) and Chloe Decker (Lauren German) finally made their relationship official.

The first half of season five has been the show’s most romantic instalment yet, and even offered a glimpse at some of Deckerstar’s most intimate moments.

However, the morning after the fated pair had sex for the first time, they discovered something strange going on with Lucifer’s powers.

In the heat of the moment, the devil’s power to reveal the innermost desires of those he speaks to had somehow transferred over to Chloe.

Not only that, but when Lucifer is shot by Dan (Kevin Alejandro) after a disastrous misunderstanding, he discovers his powers of invulnerability have suddenly started working around Chloe.

Normally, the presence of his beautiful detective partner numb his powers due to a mysterious connection between the pair.

With the arrival of God (Dennis Haysbert) in the midseason finale, it’s hoped Deckerstar’s destiny will finally be explained when part two is released.

Unfortunately, Netflix have yet to confirm when this will happen, despite production wrapping up on the originally COVID-delayed finale.

Thankfully, the ever-devoted Lucifer fanbase has come up with a convincing explanation for season five’s mojo mayhem

One thoughtful viewer took to Reddit to propose their theory to explain Lucifer’s sudden immunity to bullets in Chloe’s proximity.

Redditor cstovall311 said: “I believe Lucifer becomes invulnerable and gets his mojo back because he felt useless to Chloe and all he does is want to help.”

Once Chloe takes over his uncanny abilities, Lucifer feels despondent when he realises how little he has to offer without being able to draw the truth from potential suspects.

However, as celestials’ powers are based somewhat on their current motivational state, Lucifer was able to will his mojo back when it was most needed.

The Redditor continued and explained: “Since angels self-actualize I don’t think it has to do with love anymore.”

Most fans inferred that Lucifer wanted to give Chloe everything he had when they made their relationship official and finally slept together.

Therefore, in their heightened emotional state, Lucifer’s powers were briefly lost because his celestial subconscious wanted Chloe to experience them.

Unfortunately, this had an unwanted side effect when they were called to a case after their first night together and Lucifer was left feeling useless to the investigation.

The fan went on: “I think it’s his fear of Chloe not needing him anymore since he originally thought she had mojo on everybody.”

Chloe confirms the theory herself when she confides in Lucifer after his mojo swapped back, revealing her belief that the swap occurred because he had finally opened up to her.

Now the devil is more in tune with how his abilities work, Chloe’s presence no longer dampens his strength and the duo can finally fight crime without risking Lucifer’s life.
