The adventures of everyone’s favourite crime-solving devil will finally come to an end on Netflix in just under a month’s time. A recent post from Lucifer’s co-showrunner Ildy Modrovich on Instagram could be teasing the return of one of the series’ biggest guest stars.
A new set photo from the sixth season of Lucifer seems to be teasing the return of Charlotte Richards, aka Goddess (played by Tricia Helfer).
During the show’s original run on Fox, Charlotte’s body was used as a vessel by Lucifer’s (Tom Ellis) mother.
She was later resurrected when Goddess was sent to the void and began a relationship with the now departed detective Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro).
Unfortunately, Charlotte was slain again by Marcus Pierce/Cain (Tom Welling), though guest star Tricia Helfer made a surprise cameo alongside Dennis Haysbert’s God last season.
The latest update from screenwriter Ildy Modrovich has fans convinced that Lucifer will be visiting his mother’s resting place in the upcoming episodes.
Of course, Charlotte isn’t strictly speaking his real mother, but, considering Goddess kept this form in her later appearances, her grave is the closest thing Lucifer has if he wants to pay his respects.
To make things even more cryptic, Modrovich quoted from writer Mark Twain in the post, which could contain some clue as to what’s happening in the scene in question.
“‘Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side he never shows to anybody’,” she wrote, adding ‘#LuciferBTS’ and ‘#countdowntoseason6’.

Beyond the sheer number of theories circulating the upcoming instalment, the new post makes it clear that this will be the darkest chapter of Lucifer’s journey yet.
In the comments, a number of fans assumed the devil is paying the body of Dan Espinoza a visit following his death last season.
“Hmmm,” mused one commenter. “I hope it’s Dan’s he’s looking at.”
“My God! Dan will return,” said another, also referring to Dan’s unexpected appearances from beyond the grave in the new trailer.

However, more fans were still convinced Lucifer will be mourning his mother in this scene.
If Dan Espinoza is somehow returning from the dead next season, who’s to say Goddess couldn’t come back in her son’s hour of need?
One viewer speculated: “Isn’t that where Charlotte’s grave is?”
In season five, Dan visits the graveyard where Charlotte was buried before he has an impromptu meeting with Lucifer’s devious twin brother, Michael.
The style of the gravestones certainly look quite similar to those featured in Modrovich’s new behind the scenes photo.
On the other hand, another eagle-eyed ‘Lucifan’ claimed the location is actually where the falsely accused Caleb Mayfield (Denny Love) was buried at the end of season four.
With just a few weeks left before Lucifer’s return, fans will just have to wait and see if Lucifer season six features some surprising family reunions.
Lucifer season 6 will be released on Friday, September 10 on Netflix.
