ATHENS (Reuters) – Greece has quarantined a second migrant facility on its mainland after a 53-year-old man tested positive for the new coronavirus, the migration…
Love Island’s Ollie Williams has revealed how the producers and Islanders pleaded with him to stay for the ‘brand deals’.
The 23-year-old announced his exit from the South African villa after three days, explaining he was still in love with his ex-girlfriend.
Although Ollie has now spoken out about the drama that surrounded his departure and explained how TV bosses tried to get him to stay.
‘I went to the producers on day five in the villa and I was like, “guys, I’m feeling this.” And they were like “whoa, dude. Just take a step back”,’ he began.
‘Just in hindsight, you know, in hindsight, I was like bare PR for them, good or bad. So they were like “please stay, please stay.” And they were asking me to stay, you know? So I sort of said, “alright, I’ll give it 24 hours”.
‘So I gave it 24 hours and spoke to a couple of the boys off the record and they were like “mate, think about, not even about the love, just get in a friendship couple. Just think about all the deals that will come out of it and stuff. And think about all the followers”.’
Ollie, received a lot of backlash during his time in and out of the villa after pictures emerged of the heir posing with dead animals.
The former Islander exclaimed that he ‘had no idea’ about what the public were saying about it and that he genuinely left the show because he was in love with his ex-girlfriend – and not because he was kicked out.
He continued on BBC Radio 1’s The Reality Tea Podcast: ‘At the end of the day, this show is about love. And if it’s taken me to come on here to figure out and realise that I love someone else, it shouldn’t have taken that, but so be it. And it would be, the only thing I can do now is leave, because it would be being fake to myself.
‘Then I came out thinking I’m gonna be the most romantic bloke in the world to declare my love to her (Laura) on national TV, then to come out and have all this negative stuff, it really marred it.
‘And I really wound me up, because then it lined up, everyone was just saying “yeah the only reason he left because ITV kicked him out because of some petition or some crap.” And I was like honestly, I had no idea. I didn’t actually know about the gravity until I came home.
‘And there was like a family board meeting being like, “OK. So this is pretty bad”.’
Love Island continues at 9pm on ITV2.
