Loose Women panellists run on late after ‘forgetting’ they were on TV

Loose Women viewers were tickled as the panellists ran on late after apparently forgetting that they were on live TV.

Tuesday's instalment of the ITV show started to show the panel was empty and Ruth Langsford, Janet Street-Porter and co could be glimpsed dashing on screen.

They then re-emerged from the wings to make their usual entrance, looking a little flustered but smiling and waving as if nothing had happened.

Laughing, Ruth told viewers they had lost track of time.

"I was on the Lorraine show yesterday and I said, sometimes we forget we are on the television," she said.

"Well that kind of just happened.

"We were all chatting, I've got a jar of pickles – I'll explain why – I am supposed to be getting a pickle out of the jar and someone said '10 seconds', I ran over there and had to run straight back!"

Denise Welch then started giggling as she chimed in to say she had been distracted as well as she had been busy talking to fellow panellist Brenda Edwards about her shoes and where they came from.

"Anyway, we are now back in the room, we are on live television and it's lovely to have your company!" said Ruth, getting the programme started.

Viewers thought the whole thing was absolutely hilarious and posted a slew of messages on Twitter about it.

"Run ladies run… you're live on air!!" one person posted, sharing a clip of the gaffe.

"That Loose Women entrance had me in stitches," tweeted another fan.

One viewer said it was the "best thing to happen today".

"Well, proof it's live," said someone else, adding a crying with laughter emoji.

However, one viewer was confused about how the ladies could forget they were on the telly.

"Forget they are on TV?" they posted. "Errrr cameras, audience, producer, director etc?"

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV
