Line of Duty bosses battle to contain explosive season 6 spoilers as 'fans take pics of finale filming and upload them'

LINE of Duty bosses are battling to contain season 6 spoilers after fans took pictures of the show's finale shoot and uploaded them online.

The hit BBC drama is currently filming in Northern Ireland and up until now show bosses have managed to keep information about the upcoming storyline under wraps.

However, fans of the show took a page out of AC-12's book and managed to uncover a string of leaks about the new plot after locals shared a slew of photos and videos from the shot online.

According to a show insider, local cast and crew have let slip "big final scenes" were being filmed at Straid Dam, 15 miles north of Belfast, but made sure not to add any information.

A source told Daily Star: "Filming is in the final stages. Some of the cast have already wrapped up but a few of the main scenes are yet to be finished.

"It should all be done in the next few days – end of the month at the latest. Earlier this week, one of the big final scenes was filmed at night at Straid Dam near Carrickfergus.

"Even though people in the local area know what show is being recorded bosses had managed to keep any major leaks from happening.

"But over the past few days countless amateur images from set have started to appear online – it will be a headache for the BBC but so far everything is under control."

However a second source told them them that shooting will continue at "various locations" past this week.

The Sun Online has contacted BBC for comment.

Last week, show star Vicky McClure says she is heckled in the street about H's identity.

The DI Kate Fleming star also mentioned she gets hounded for selfies despite social distancing rules.

The actress also commented on how she coped with the lockdown and what happens when fans recognise her when she's out and about.

She is currently filming the new series of Line of Duty and viewers sometimes ask her about what they can expect to see.

She told Metro: "I do get ‘Who’s H?’ It’s just tricky at the moment when people want selfies because of distancing – I am miles away, smiling in the background."

Vicky is part of the popular on-screen trio of DS Arnott (Martin Compston) and Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) that fans cannot wait to see in action once again.

Line Of Duty sixth series will hit BBC One in March 2021 after the coronavirus pandemic halted filming when the UK went into lockdown in March.

Kelly MacDonald is also joining the cast for the new series.

She will play Detective Chief Inspector Joanne Davidson, the senior investigating officer of an unsolved murder, who raises suspicions at AC-12.
