Laila Morse reveals how EastEnders legend Wendy Richard saved her life

EastEnders star Laila Morse has opened up about how fellow co-star Wendy Richard saved her life.

Laila – who plays icon Mo Harris – features in this year’s celeb line up for ITV’s Strictly The Real Full Monty.

During an interview, she broke down in tears as she discussed a moment with her best friend Wendy Richard – who played Pauline Fowler in the soap.

After finding a lump on her breast in 2000, Laila was persuaded by Wendy to go to the doctors.

Laila was diagnosed with breast cancer, but because the lump was found early, it was treatable.

Laila said how she didn’t think she ‘would still be here’ if her friend hadn’t convinced her to visit the doctor.

Wendy was also diagnosed with breast cancer back in mid-1990s and then 2002.

She died in 2009 after battling the illness.

Laila features alongside Christine McGuinness, James and Ola Jordan, Teddy Soares and Demi Jones, Duncan James, Colin Jackson, Brenda Edwards and Martin Roberts in the concluding part of Strictly The Real Full Monty, which airs tonight on ITV at 9pm.
