How I Met Your Mother might not be the first show people think of when it comes to holiday specials, but the show knew how to pack…
After Kanye tweeted about his love for the US president, A-listers Rihanna, Drake and Nicki Minaj unfollowed him on Twitter, as well as Kim’s own sisters Kourtney, Khloe and Kylie Jenner.
Now, friends of the couple tell The Sun Online that Kim’s worried Kanye’s political opinions will ruin friendships with their famous mates and see them shunning at next week's big fashion event.
“Kim’s really worried that all their famous friends will turn their back on Kanye,” says our source.
“The Met Ball is next week and she’s really panicking that people might blank them on the red carpet or not want to share a table with them or be pictured with them.
“She’s especially worried about what John Legend and Chrissy Teigan think – they’re famously anti-Trump and she doesn’t want to make things awkward.
“She’s already spoken to Chrissy about the situation and there’s no drama between them but she’s mortified that she’s even having to go through this.
“Kim spent years being shunned from important events and fashion front rows because she was considered ‘just’ a reality star ten years ago, and she doesn’t want it to happen again.
“Of course she supports her husband, but she’s worried this might have other consequences.”
John has already tweeted what appeared to be a response to Kanye’s support for Trump, saying: “I love that great, brilliant artists have the power to imagine a better future. But artists can't be blind to the truth.”
“Far too many people don't have the luxury of closing their eyes and ears. They feel it in their lives and can't act like what they see and know doesn't exist.
“The defining trait of Trump's campaign and political profile was his embrace of white supremacy. He made it clear every time he spoke. Some serious cognitive dissonance to ignore that for the other x% you might find appealing. I guess I agree with >1% of anyone's thoughts though.”
Kanye waded into controversy when he called Trump his ‘brother’ and said: “You don’t have to agree with Trump but the mob can’t make me not love him.”
He’s also been spotted wearing a cap with Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ slogan on it.
John and Kanye West have been friends for over ten years, both starting out in music together after meeting through Kanye’s cousin, who was John’s flatmate in New York.
They’ve collaborated on almost every one of Kanye’s albums since, and their wives are close too – Chrissy exchanged jokey tweets with Kim just last week.
John has revealed that he was actually with Kim when Kanye was hospitalised with exhaustion in 2016.
The Sun Online has approached Kim's spokesperson for comment.
