Temperatures will jump by 15C this week, as erratic and unsettled weather sweeps across the UK. The latest BBC weather forecast shows strong winds and…
The devastated 39-year-old, who was running in aid of British Heart Foundation, was forced to pull out of the run at around the 15km mark due to a knee injury.
And following a torrent of abuse over her decision not to complete the 42km run, Katie blasted: "I did train for the run ,tried my best in a heavy outfit and if my mummy is proud that’s what matters to me ❤."
Katie was dressed as a pair of lungs for the charity, which she picked after her mum Amy was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2017. A policeman was later seen wearing them back to the finish line.
While many offered her support and praised her for raising awareness for the charity, others were less kind and accused her of not putting in enough effort.
One person ranted: "No training, no commitment, no money raised… She deserves every bit of stick she gets, as people would get behind a good charity as long as @KatiePrice was not involved. No training, no commitment, no money raised…"
While another wrote: “Don’t understand how people are defending Katie Price? She not only made a mockery of herself by entering a marathon with 0 training & no effort to raise money for charity but also took a place in which someone who actually wanted to do it could of had #LondonMarathon2018.”
Even Celebs Go Dating star Nadia Essex got involved, saying: “She quit after 15k. YOU are missing the point. The marathon is over subscribed by 1000’s all wanting to run for a charity close to their heart.
"She took a place then didn’t put in any effort, didn’t train, got drunk last night and didn’t take it seriously. Is that fair??”
Katie, who previously said she was determined to finish the race, was expected to take part in a public appearance the night before the marathon but pulled out in order to do the run.
Her mum Amy took to Twitter to defend her, along with her loyal followers, saying: "I just want to say how proud I am of my daughter Katie for doing the marathon.
"She may not have completed it but she has brought so much awareness it has been worth it for the British Lung Foundation."
Katie previously suffered heartache during the annual endurance race in 2009 when she suffered a miscarriage.
This time, the star was determined to finish the race again – so will no doubt be heartbroken that she was forced to pull out.
She told The Daily Mirror: “If I collapse, I better f***ing get up again.
"But even if I end up having to crawl, I will get over that line. Whatever has gone on in my life this year, I’ll put that aside on the day.
