I’m A Celeb campmates tell Matt Hancock he’s ‘brave man’ as they react to his arrival

I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!'s campmates reacted to Matt Hancock's late arrival into camp on Wednesday night's episode.

Matt, 44, finally made his entrance with fellow newbie Seann Walsh, and it was apparent that the celebrities were quite taken aback at seeing the former Health Secretary in the jungle.

After completing their first Bushtucker Trial, which was called Beastly Burrow, Matt and Seann, 36, made their way to the camp to meet their new co-stars, who had been in since Sunday night’s premiere.

“Oh, oh, oh,” Coronation Street’s Sue Cleaver said as the duo approached.

In the Bush Telegraph, radio DJ Chris Moyles couldn’t believe the news and said: “Oh my God, two new people have arrived. One of them is Seann Walsh and the other one… I’ve got to go back and double check!”

Sue, 59, was just as shocked and added: “I don’t know what to say.”

Loose Women’s Charlene White, who has already clashed with pop icon Boy George, was quick to ask how many stars they won, to which Matt said they got six out of the 11 available.

Actor and comedian Babatúndé Aléshé, who yesterday conquered his fear of heights, joked about him winning more stars and said the newbies have "got a lot to live up to…"

“They weren’t desperately impressed with six stars were they?” Matt said in the Bush Telegraph, to which Seann replied: “They were not!”

Elsewhere during the introduction, Chris wasted no time in mocking Matt as he said: "You’ve got to get it out of the way for me. Please just say, ‘next slide please’ and I’m really happy."

This was the phrase the MP famously used during his Covid briefings in his former position as Health Secretary, during the height of the pandemic.

Answering Chris’ request, Matt replied: “Next slide please!” to which Chris jumped up exclaiming: “Yes! See you later…”

Although, a laughing Boy George warned Matt: “You’re really going to get it. You’re really going to get it. Not from me. I mean just from…”

Wanting to know more about the MP’s decision to enter the jungle, Scarlette Douglas asked: “Why did you decide to come in?”

To which Matt said: “Why? Because, all politicians are known — and me in particular — for being in a very sort of strict way of being. Which is just not actually how we are.”

Scarlette, 35, said in response: “How would you say you were?” to which Matt replied: “More human than that.”

With Sue commenting: “You’re a brave man!" to which Matt responded: "Well, we’ll see how it goes…"

A Place In The Sun star Scarlette added: “I’m looking forward to getting to know you outside of everything else. That’s going to be good. Just be your authentic self.”

She added in the Bush Telegraph: “To be fair, everyone’s human.

“We all have our own personalities outside what we are seen in the media. So listen, Matt Hancock has come on, he obviously has something to prove, so hey, everyone’s got their own reasons as to why they’re here.”
