Huge Emmerdale legend declares he will buy Moira's farm – and it's not Kim Tate

The unthinkable is about to become reality in Emmerdale as Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb) has been forced to sell her beloved farm to Kim Tate (Claire King).

While she’ll hold on to the house and the field where her daughter Holly was laid to rest after her death – but she’ll no longer own the actual farm.

In recent episodes we saw how shattered Moira was by the prospect, as all her hard work has ended by losing her farm.

What viewers know and Moira doesn’t is that this is all part of Caleb Milligan (William Ash)’s plot to get his hands on all of Kim Tate’s money and assets, and presumably this also means the farm eventually. He told his son Nicky (Lewis Cope) that he would see the Dingles right as soon as his plan was successful, so he most likely plans to return the land to Moira.

In the meantime, his sabotaging of her meat production machinery has ruined Moira’s reputation and left her in despair, and Caleb’s going to find it very hard to come back from doing that amount of damage and salvaging a relationship with Cain and the rest of the family.

But what if the farm passed into other hands?

That was the prospect raised by Emmerdale legend Kelvin Fletcher recently in response to a video of Moira telling Cain (Jeff Hordley) she was going to sell the farm.

‘I’ll buy it,’ Kelvin declared, which had fans thrilled at the prospect. ‘Now that would be a great storyline,’ one said approvingly, with others liking the idea of Emmerdale getting back to its Emmerdale Farm roots with more actual farmers.

‘Yes! Bring another farmer back!!’ a fan commented.

Kelvin played Andy Sugden for 20 years and for much of that time he ran Butlers Farm, living there himself and then working for the Barton family when they took over the lease. His many major storylines included setting fire to the barn when the farm ran into financial troubles, which led to the death of his adoptive mother Sarah (Alyson Spiro).

After leaving Emmerdale in 2016, Kelvin went on to focus on a career as a racing driver and also memorably won Strictly Come Dancing in 2019 with professional partner Oti Mabuse.

It’s not the first time Kelvin has commented on an Emmerdale storyline and tantalised fans with a hint he may return. In a recent scene Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) and Sam Dingle (James Hooton) fell out when Will thought Sam had stolen his watch – leading to some aggressive behaviour on Will’s part.

Kelvin was quick to chip in. ‘If he touches Sam like that again I’m coming back to sort it,’ he said, much to the approval of fans.

Could Andy Sugden be the answer to Moira and Cain’s prayers as they face the loss of their farm? Sadly there are no indications that Kelvin is actually lined up for a return, so in the meantime it looks like it’s all in the hands of Caleb and Kim.

Who will win the battle for Butlers?
