Hollyoaks' Mercedes breaks down over murderous Bobby as he's jailed for decades

Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) was left heartbroken in Hollyoaks, believing herself to be a terrible mother following Bobby Costello’s (Jayden Fox) admission of murder.

Bobby claimed a number of lives during his reign of terror, including that of granddad Silas Blissett (Jeff Rawle), who he pushed onto a giant electrified chessboard.

The little boy was arrested and charged with the attempted murder of DeMarcus Westwood (Tomi Ade) – who he locked in a store room and tried to set to alight – receiving nine years in prison for the crime, in addition to another 12 for his role in Silas’ death.

Mercedes was hoping to share a final moment with him before he was taken away to prison, but she received a huge shock when he admitted to killing Verity Hutchinson (Eva O’Hara).

The former Dog landlady was devastated, recalling how Verity was killed after she had suspicions about Bobby, and therefore, after saying goodbye to her son, she headed straight for The Dog, where she told Tony and Diane Hutchinson (Nick Pickard and Alex Fletcher) the truth.

Tony was livid, blaming Mercedes for his sister’s demise, while Diane ordered her out of their pub at once.

John Paul (James Sutton) took Mercedes home and got in touch with Felix (Richard Blackwood), who was quick to offer her a shoulder to cry on, as she broke down in tears.

Will Mercedes be able to rebuild her life following Bobby’s reign of terror?
