The coronavirus pandemic has killed tens of thousands and forced people across the world to re-evaluate what they think is really important. Sky News has…
The actress – who played beloved Tegan Lomax in the Channel 4 soap – left the show in tonight's main show after Tegan was crushed by a falling tree, and it's been a heartbreaking exit for her too.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online, Jessica said: "I'm so sad. It was really sad because we're actually really good friends and they have become my family.
"I've known about six months. I had to keep it a secret but obviously my family knew but… I think Kieron's still in denial."
She added of her emotional final scenes: "A lot of it was genuine tears. It was heartbreaking. My mum and dad came in to watch filming and I didn't know it was that day, it was just because I had a full day filming and they spent the entire day watching me die."
She added: "I don't really like change. I like routine and being in a place and I'm going to miss that."
Viewers watched in tears as her brother Ste Hay and her sister Leela broke down as the doctor told them Tegan was gone.
And they flocked to Twitter to share their devastation over the beloved character's exit.
One said: "Can’t believe Tegan has gone!!
"It won’t be the same especially since she just got everything that she’s always wanted. At least she’ll now be reunited with Ziggy.
"You’ll be missed @JessicaEllisUK I wish you the best of luck for the future. #StormHollyoaks @Hollyoaks"
A second added: "@Hollyoaks has me in floods! Poor Tegan! Poor little Rose #hollyoaks #StormHollyoaks #hollyoaksstorm"
A third wrote: "@Hollyoaks why Tegan? She I thought would be the jack of our genre that would always be there."
Another commented: "My god i’ve never cried so much at hollyoaks in my life poor tegan:("
"Tell ya what, Tegan cannot catch a bloody break on hollyoaks can she, the poor thing," said another.
Others raged at the decision to kill Tegan off.
One tweeted: "Why did they have to kill Tegan #Hollyoaks"
