Harley's past comes back to haunt her in tonight's Hollyoaks
With Harley’s checkered past still relatively untouched on Hollyoaks soil, tonight’s episode (June 22) provided viewers with a stark reminder of her roots.
Following on from their kidnap horror at Nico’s hands, Harley and Peri found themselves having a casual talk in The Bean in Friday night’s episode, before Harley is then approached by a mysterious blast from the past: Ron.
Now, this guy is nothing like his lovable Hogwarts namesake but in fact quite an intimidating, rough character who threatens to unbalance the new life Harley has made for herself with Peri and her family in the ‘Oaks.
Despite Ron’s presence threatening to call Harley back into the darker aspects of her life before moving in with the Lomaxes, Harley manages to brush off Ron and his mysterious plans firmly early on, warning him to stay away.
Unsurprisingly, though, the world of Twitter was awash with worried thoughts for Harley, with fans defending her wellbeing and clearly recognising Ron as something of a villain:
That’s what happens when a soap introduces a newcomer with a shady past.
Unfortunately, as the episode drew to a close, Harley has an argument back at the Lomaxes after discovering Leela has ruined her coat in the wash, with Peri standing up for her mum and causing Harley to storm out.
Just as viewers thought Ron had got the message and slung his hook, it looks like he didn’t actually get all that far out of town after all, as Harley is then seen getting into his car.
What does this mean for Harley and her mental headspace? And also, just what exactly are Ron’s true intentions?
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
