'Grey's Anatomy' Lives To See Another Day, Becomes ABC's Longest-Running Drama Series

Everyone’s favorite hospital drama is still going strong! Grey’s Anatomy has been renewed for its fifteenth season. The mega popular show, which has aired since 2005, is now ABC’s longest-running drama series.

According to Vulture, Grey’s remains the network’s most popular primetime drama among viewers 18 to 49 — an impressive feat given that it outlives most high school freshmen.

Grey’s Anatomy has a special place in my heart and millions of viewers feel the same way,” ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said in a statement. “Thanks to fiercely loyal fans who have been on this journey since the beginning, and new generations of viewers who continue to discover the joy and drama of Grey Sloan Memorial, the show is as strong as ever.”

The show is now among the eight longest-running series ever on TV.

Fans won’t be surprised at the news given Ellen Pompeo’s recently announced contract to produce seasons 15 and 16. Still, Season 16 has yet to be promised.

Sadly, actresses Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew (who play Arizona Robbins and April Kepner, respectively) will not be returning to the series after being let go.

Viewers can, however, look forward to seeing a number of familiar faces, including Chandra Wilson, Camilla Luddington, Justin Chambers, Jesse Williams, James Pickens Jr., Giacomo Gianniotti, Kelly McCreary, Caterina Scorsone, and Kevin McKidd.

We’ll leave this here for those diehard fans who have been watching since the beginning:
