Good Morning Britain viewers were left fuming at their TV sets when they realised the ITV show had been pulled off air.

ITV viewers are used to tuning in to see the likes of Susanna Reid, Ben Shephard, Richard Madeley, Charlotte Hawkins and Kate Garraway every morning from 6am.

But they were met with disappointment on Monday as the popular show had been canned and replaced with coverage of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

It seems a lot of fans had banked on hearing Susanna reveal the top stories of the day, but instead they saw Italy take on Argentina.

Fans were furious with the schedule shake-up and rushed to complain about it on Twitter.

One wrote: "Seriously, football this time of the morning! I could understand if England was playing. News obviously isn't important."

Another agreed: "#GMB Why don't they put football on @itv2 and leave @GMB on @ITV1 like they do on the #BBC when they have football or tennis on. Don't just take News off for football."

A third asked: "@GMB @ITV when did football become more important than news & current affairs? Not everyone likes football so why has it been put on the main ITV channel on a weekday when there are other ITV channels to choose."

One revealed that they'd decided to tune into rival breakfast show BBC Breakfast instead, adding: "No #gmb today, due to the football world cup, so watching #bbcbreakfast instead."
