Since Piers Morgan’s departure from Good Morning Britain back in March, the ITV show has welcomed a number of guest presenters to stand in alongside Susanna Reid. Richard Madeley, Martin Lewis and Alastair Campbell are just three of the hosts who’ve stepped into the role and on Monday morning, it was the latter who made a comeback to discuss the latest headlines. However, it’s safe to say not all GMB viewers were pleased to see the former Labour man back.
There was plenty on the agenda for Alastair and Susanna to get through upon his first show back after taking the reins from Richard.
From the London Marathon to the subject of unvaccinated professional footballers, Alastair and Susanna had plenty of guests to speak to.
However, just moments after Alastair took his seat on the show, fans made their thoughts known across social media.
Victoria Peniche penned on Twitter: “@GMB switched on my telly this morning only to find Alastair Campbell presenting again.
“Why oh why he’s boring no personality think it’s time to switch channels where is Richard Madeley.”
Jay Anthony also blasted the presenting duo for failing to report on Alastair’s former boss, Tony Blair, following the Pandora papers, a large collection of leaked offshore documents.
He vented: “Gmb has been on for almost an hour and there has been no reference by Susana or Campbell to his best mate tony Blair on this Pandora scheme outrageous.”
Geraldine Robinson also took issue with Alastair’s comments during a debate surrounding unvaccinated footballers.
“@GMB How dare Alister Campbell call people who don’t take an experimental jab ‘conspiracy theorists’,” she fumed. “Perhaps if they spoke about adverse effects of the jab and stopped trying to cover it up it might help.”
Lynn McAdam echoed: “@gmb what the hell is Alistair Campbell doing on here again, scraping the barrel! Ffs.” (Sic)
While Andi agreed: “I’ve decided to give this a miss till Campbell goes. I’ll get to work a lot quicker.#gmb.”
“@GMB Alastair Campbell AGAIN!!! Turning OFF [angry emoji],” Dawn added.

However, @Day17_Anne defended the presenting choice: “What a relief to see you on @GMB this morning Alastair! You always speak for me!”
And @hooray_k weighed in: ”Presenting skills of #AlastairCampbell lack enthusiasm but, as he has the political knowledge which was lacking on show, l don’t mind him presenting. However, he has no chemistry with Susanna & it’s clear they don’t get on. Not a presenting team.”
