As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, so does uncertainty about whether we will be able to return to “normal life” in the near future. A vaccine…
Melania Trump seems to be slowly tip-toeing into her role in the White House. She didn’t arrive in Washington, D.C. until almost six months after her husband’s inauguration. The First Lady hasn’t really done very much, except hosting events every now and then and ignoring details about President Donald Trump’s alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels. The Trumps recently hosted French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, First Lady Brigitte Macron, and it seemed to go off without a hitch.
In fact, Melania Trump actually bonded with Macron, and the French first lady revealed quite a few insider details about the former’s life inside the White House.
Hats and fashions

No matter what anyone thinks of Melania or her husband, we can all agree that the first lady knows how to pull off some looks and fashions. In fact, Melania was draped in all white for the military ceremony welcoming the Macrons to Washington.
The first lady wore a white suit from the Michael Kors Collection that costs $2,195. However, it was her matching hat that set the internet ablaze. She looked legendary with the wide-brimmed hat perched on her head. It helped shield her eyes and aided her in avoiding holding her husband’s hands or receiving his kisses.
According to CNN, the hat is also by Michael Kors. However, the designer has no desire to be associated with the Trumps. CNN reported, “Michael Kors is not taking credit for the hat.”

Though they both wore white to the official welcome, that’s where the similarities in Mrs. Trump and Mrs. Macron’s lives end. According to the vibrant French first lady, Melania lives a life full of restrictions.
She revealed to Le Monde, “[Melania] cannot do anything. She can’t even open a window at the White House. She can’t go outside.”

Alive but not living

Macron was a bit taken aback to discover that Melania’s life was so confined. As she expressed to Le Monde, “She’s much more constrained than I am. I go out every day in Paris.”
We don’t recall former first ladies being so restricted. We have a feeling that Melania is doing exactly what she wants to do. After all, she could always move back to New York and live her life if that’s what she truly wanted.

Charming and kind

To the American people, first lady Trump seems severe and reserved. We’ve never really gotten any real sense of personality from her, except for that time when she plagiarized Michelle Obama’s speech. However, according to Macron, Melania is super smart.
Macron explained to Le Monde, “[Melania] is kind, charming, intelligent and very open.”

Witty and fun

We’ve pretty much never seen Melania look anything but grim, except for that time at former first lady Barbara Bush’s funeral where she grinned at former President Barack Obama. Apparently, that version of Melania is who she truly is.
Macron explained, “[She’s] actually really fun. We have the same sense of humor. We laugh a lot together.”

Since Macron saw a side of Melania that the public has yet to see, the French first lady considered why her new friend might not let her true personality come alive in public. She explained, “Everything is interpreted, over-interpreted. She’s someone who has a strong personality but works hard to hide it. She laughs very easily, at everything, but shows it less than I do.”
We still think her choice in husband says a lot about her personality, but what do we know?

Staying true to herself

Even before becoming first lady the United States, Melania stayed in the background. She seemed content on living her life quietly in NYC and taking care of her son, Barron. Perhaps that’s what she’s trying to do now, but that means she isn’t doing her job as the first lady.
As Macron explained, “I haven’t changed in my head. I’m still the wife of Emmanuel Macron, not of the president. I don’t feel like a first lady. Even if at my age, I have nothing to prove, I try to be more than just a decorative vase of flowers.”
It seems like Melania can use a few first lady lessons from Brigitte Macron.
