Emmerdale’s Paige Sandhu teases ‘fun’ romance between Meena and ‘villainous’ Mackenzie

She’s currently front and centre of Emmerdale’s Super Soap Week as nurse turned serial killer Meena Jutla.

But as viewers wait with bated breath to see if Meena will exact her revenge on Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) for her blossoming relationship with David (Matthew Wolfenden), actress Paige Sandhu has opened up about where she’d like to see her character if it were in her hands.

Paige, who joined the soap last year and has gone on to make a big impression as the malicious murderer, explained she’d love to see Meena form a romantic connection with Dales bad boy Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) as it would guarantee fireworks for viewers at home.

Speaking exclusively to OK! about who she thinks would be a good match for Meena in the village if she were to survive the week, Paige said: “I would want Meena to be with Mackenzie because he’s got that villainous element.”

The soap star continued: “He’s not as bad as Meena, obviously, but the stuff he gets up to with the criminal activity means he’s not good.”

Paige continued that she’d be interested to see their on-screen dynamic play out, including who would have the upper hand in the relationship.

She added: “It would be really fun to see how they would work together and I think Lawrence is a fantastic actor and I really like him as a person as well.”

While Paige and viewers will have to wait and see what the future holds for soap’s newest villain, they can be assured of one thing – plenty of drama.

Speaking about the epic scenes that will air this week, she teased: “As the promo shows, there’s a maize maze and all of the characters involved are put in crazy, intense experiences that cause a lot of fear.”

“Meena has those experiences too, but she’s also in the midst of it causing it all to happen.”

The star continued to say that she loved every second of filming the scenes, especially the epic stunts.

Paige explained: “The stunts that we were doing were the most amazing, incredible experiences ever and the locations were out of this world beautiful.”

She added: “Everything just felt so special and from what I’ve seen so far, it’s amazing.”

In fact, Paige is so excited about all of the action to come this week that she’s breaking her strict rule of not watching herself back on screen.

She continued: “I never usually watch myself back because I’m so horrible about myself.”

“But I will watch Super Soap Week because I want to see what it turns out like, so I’ll have to get over it for this!”
