Emmerdale spoilers: Cain Dingle makes shock return to the village | The Sun

AFTER a shocking car accident, Cain Dingle decided to take a breather from the Dales in Scotland.

But he returns to Emmerdale next week as his wife Moira and mother Faith continue to keep a secret from him.

Faith Dingle (portrayed by Sally Dexter) was recently diagnosed with incurable cancer and, although she has come to terms with her condition, has refused to share it with her children.

She was then blindsided by Moira (Natalie J. Robb) who revealed that her son Cain (played by soap legend Jeff Hordley) left the village to go to Scotland, where his daughter Debbie resides.

But the tough man makes an unexpected return next week and his wife fears ructions when he discovers Faith in their home.

Cain doesn't have the best relationship with his mother and goes for the jugular again when he mistakes her chemotherapy side effects for a severe hangover.

Hiding her heartbreak and remaining dignified, Faith leaves the room followed by her daughter-in-law, one of the only residents to know she suffers from breast cancer.

Moira apologises for Cain's hurtful words and Faith later accepts nurse Wendy Posner's care, another resident who knows about her illness.

Knowing she won't be able to keep the truth under wraps for much longer, Faith asks Chas to make plans for her birthday, hoping it could help her mend her relationship with Cain.

Chas and Bear plan a party at The Woolpack while Faith struggles with the idea of dropping her cancer bombshell on her birthday.

The big day comes along and an apprehensive Faith notices Cain is too angry to even speak once he realises he has been tricked to attend the party.

His temper gets the best of him again and he scolds the others for pushing him to celebrate Faith's birthday.

The rest of the family support her just as Moira bites her tongue on the real reason he's been invited.

The fallout from Faith's revelation begins after Cain claims he wishes his mother would be dead and she reveals that her cancer is back.

But how will Faith's family and loved ones react to the news?

As mentioned above, Cain left the titular village for Scotland in recent episodes of the Yorkshire-based soap.

He was involved in a car accident with his sister Chas as the pair chased after Al Chapman who was threatening to turn Noah Dingle in to the authorities.

The teen was caught stalking and assaulting his former girlfriend Chloe Harris and was eventually brought to justice by his own mother Charity.
