Fans of Emmerdale and Coronation Street were not too pleased to discover that there will be no new instalments of their favourite soaps tonight.
Both serial dramas, which air outings every Friday, will not broadcast new episodes this evening.
The schedule disruption is, yet again, due to football, as ITV will instead air England’s 2022 Wold Cup qualification games.
England will go head-to-head with Albania on Friday, and then San Marino on Monday, with live coverage of both games airing from 7pm on the broadcaster.
Fans, understandably, have been left upset by the discovery that the soaps have been pushed for the football, and thus several took to social media to vent.
‘I have got to say that I am disgusted with ITV, the reason being you have taken off Coronation Street and Emmerdale for football,’ exclaimed on social media user.
‘This has ruined mine and no doubt hundreds of other viewers’ viewing pleasure.’
It’s a joke putting football on on a fridayð ð ð #emmerdale

‘Because of this I shall be watching less and less of ITV,’ added one viewer.
‘Which means I shall be watching your rival channels more and more. I normally only watch ITV keep on doing this sort of thing and I shall stop watching ITV and change to your rivals’.
Another fan posted: ‘Coronation Street’s NOT ON tonight, folks. It’s back on Tuesday next week, due to football.’
One more upset soap viewer said: ‘Why cant they just put the football (or Corrie) on ITV2, 3 or 4?.
‘Its always the soaps that get messed around.’
Both soaps will return with new episodes on Tuesday (November 16).
