EastEnders spoilers: Mick Carter left for dead after a brutal attack in shocking scenes amid rumours Aidan Maguire has returned for revenge

As concerns grow over the return of evil villain Aidan Maguire, the pub landlord will be jumped by an unknown assailant.

The shock assault will happen when Mick goes down to investigate a strange noise in the barrel store.

And just moments after he arrives in the cellar, he realises he is not alone as a man emerges from the shadows and beats him to the ground.

Viewers will no doubt speculate that Irish villain Aidan is behind the vicious attack after Mick and Linda hired a hitman to get rid of the crook.

Aidan left the Square when former ally and cell mate Phil Mitchell turned against him.

However, Phil later reached out to the gangster when he learned Vincent Hubbard was planning to tell police that he and Aidan were behind the New Year's Day heist.

Walford will also be rocked by the emergence of a blacked out car that begins circling the Square, especially Mel Owen and Kim Fox.

Mel is left fearing for son Hunter's safety when he fails to turn up for school, while Kim is eager to learn of the whereabouts of her missing husband Vincent.

But Aidan isn't the only suspect, as Mick's attack could also be linked to Callum 'Halfway' Highway, who is acting strangely since recently returning to Walford.

Whitney quickly picks up on Callum's odd behaviour when he starts to ignore her calls and texts.

And when Linda notices £50 is missing from the till, she and Whitney quickly guess that Callum is the culprit.
