Next week, Mo reveals that she’s been invited on a cruise with Fat Elvis, but that she isn’t going because she’s worried about Jean.
Viewers will know that Jean has been hiding her concerns that her cancer may have returned, and told her consultant that she didn’t want a diagnosis.
But Jean pretends that she’s fine when Mo expresses her concerns next week, and manages to convince Mo to go on the cruise, getting Kat to help her organise a going away party.
Later in the week, Jean catches Mo acting shifty around the garage as a police car pulls up on the Square.
What's going on?
Later, Jean admits that she can’t bear the thought of saying goodbye to Mo when she knows she may not be around when she returns, but doesn't realise that Zack has overheard her concerns.
Later in the pub, Mo reveals something to Jean which leaves her shocked.
Jean and Kat then bid an emotional farewell to each other.
When Mo has departed, Zack asks Jean what she meant earlier but she brushes off his concerns.
It is thought that actress Laila’s exit will only be temporary.
Back in February 2021, an EastEnders spokeswoman told The Sun: “Just like many occasions before, Big Mo will be departing Walford but as always she’ll no doubt be back in the not too distant future”.
