Order has been restored to our telly schedules, as both EastEnders and Hollyoaks return — and they do so, with a bang — giving juggernauts Coronation Street and Emmerdale some competition, as all four soaps deliver game-changing weeks.
It’s been a long three months, but EastEnders is set to return, and — while the clever methods used to ‘cheat’ social distancing will be of interest to us all — it’s the compelling stories, and the wonderful characters who will receive our undivided attention.
The returning of the Queen Vic bust precipitates an eventful week for several our finest, as Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) finally learns that Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) was to blame for Dennis Rickman’s (Bleu Landau) death, while Mick and Linda Carter (Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright) begin their new chapters.
The history-making telly isn’t something that you’ll want to miss!
Meanwhile, its an equally eventful week on the cobbles over in Coronation Street, as Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) does what she does best, as she sets about exposing Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) for the abuser that he is — with a little help from a certain CCTV camera!
Emmerdale viewers have been glued to their screens in the wake of DI Malone’s (Mark Womack) demise, but the truth is revealed in show-stopping episodes next week — well, kind of — as Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) discovers everything.
And last, but oh so very not least, Hollyoaks returns with a bang, as the wedding of Mitchell Deveraux (Imran Adams) and Scott Drinkwell (Ross Adams) is a joyous event — that is, until a heinous crime is carried out, and it’s one that could change everything!
What a time to be a soap fan, eh! If you need a little taster of the show-stopping week ahead, we’ve got you covered.
Ian and Dotty came to an arrangement amid the hiatus, and the Queen Vic landlord changed his statement in return for Dotty’s silence about Denny. However, Dotty is unable to keep shtum following another run-in with Ian, and therefore storms into The Vic and tells Sharon that Ian is the reason Dennis is dead.
A post-lockdown and post-Queen Vic world finds the Carters with problems aplenty. Linda is working at the Launderette, while Mick is relentlessly job hunting. Tina offers him a job at the Prince Albert, but he declines the position when Kathy pits him against Frankie.
The day of Ben’s implant switch on arrives, and Callum is determined to be there — no matter how busy work is. However, Callum is tasked with analysing through CCTV footage from a warehouse job, and he is stunned when he recognises the figure in the shadows. Yep, it’s Ben.
Sally pretends she wants to get a book for Yasmeen so she can get the keys from Faye, and once inside, she acquires Geoff’s laptop , and puts it in her bag. However, Geoff returns — will he believe her?
Sally successfully escapes from the house, and shouts for help, as Tim takes her home.. She tells him that she’s taken Geoff’s laptop and wants to try and view the CCTV footage. Faye offers assistance, and they try to download the deleted camera app and CCTV footage.
The police arrive, and inform Geoff that new evidence has come to light and therefore they need to ask him some more questions — is he finally caught?
With Harriet at a religious retreat, Will collects a gun from an old friend. Dawn is fuming, but he’s unable to settle his mind, as he believes Malone is out to get them.
Dawn’s unable to keep shtum any longer, and reveals the truth —confirming that she shot and killed Malone.
Jamie reveals that he wants to push ahead with his divorce — something which leaves Belle concerned. She’s worried that such a decision will only lead to more heartache and conflict, but Jamie’s determined to be with her nonetheless. However, Andrea arrives home.
Scott, Walter, Felix, Martine and Diane (Alex Fletcher) are all interrogated by the police, as they recall their version of events regarding the fateful wedding day, which transpired months earlier.
On the day of the wedding — which viewers will see via flashbacks — Walter refuses to accept that his grandson is marrying a man, and he later locks horns with Scott.
Mitchell later discovers that Toby attempted to sabotage the wedding, and — after animosity ensues — he heads for a lie down, but one of the siblings sneak into Room 13. Mitchell is nowhere to be found as Damon announces that it’s time for the first dance.
