Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is now the highest paid actor EVER after making £94m last year

The 46-year-old made more cash than any actor ever to grace the Forbes Celebrity 100 list.

Taking to Instagram to discuss his achievement, the Fast and Furious star wrote: "I work extremely hard but never anticipated (in my wildest dreams) I'd become the highest paid actor in Forbes' history.

"I don't have a Harvard MBA, but my business philosophy and acumen has been sharpened over time and thru failure.

"My goal when I was wrestling in flea markets for $40bucks per match (well before the bright lights of the @wwe) is still the exact same goal I have today – ALWAYS put my AUDIENCE FIRST.

"I have one boss – the world. Send you home happy, and I've done my job. I'm the dude who started w/ $7bucks. I'm grateful to the bone and hungry to the core."

Dwayne, who has appeared in the likes of Baywatch and Jumanji, famously only had £5 to his name when he started his career.

The star, who will next be seen in Skyscraper,  later founded a production company called $7 Bucks Productions.

Other people to make the rich list include Keeping Up With The Kardashians star and make-up brand entrepreneur Kylie Jenner.

Her 166.5 million US dollars (£125.8 million) over the past year have put her in third place, a significant jump from 59 last year, her first time on the list.

She is 30 places ahead of her older half-sister Kim Kardashian West.

Ed Sheeran has been named the highest-earning solo musician in the world, having taken home more than £80 million over the past year.

The Forbes Celebrity 100, which looks at stars all over the world, ranks "front of the camera" stars using their pre-tax earnings over 12 months until June 1 2018, before deducting fees for managers, lawyers and agents.
