Dancing On Ice’s Ekin-Su teary as she’s eliminated in most emotional skate-off yet

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu is the third contestant to be eliminated from Dancing On Ice alongside pro skating partner Brendyn Hatfield during Sunday night’s show.

After the skate-off, which host Phillip Schofield dubbed "the most emotional vote we've ever had", the judges chose to save Patsy Palmer and Matt Evers, as they all agreed that she performed the best, although they added that both women had impressive dance off routines.

As an emotional Ekin and Brendyn bid farewell, Phil and Holly invited them over for a hug, with Phil adding that they don't normally do this.

Discussing her exit, Ekin said: "We put so much time, and all the other work I had coming up at the time, this was my priority and I gave everything to it.

"And I love it, I fell in love with the ice", Phil then interjected with: "We love you too, and please, when you go from her tonight, please be really proud of what you did."

Last week's episode saw Michelle Heaton eliminated, after the show axed the dance-off for the first time, with Michelle finishing with the lowest score following the public vote and judge's scoring.

Following the Liberty X star's eviction former winner Jake Quickenden, commented on this in his exclusive OK! column, arguing that she shouldn't have been the one to go.

He wrote: "I think it is unlucky [the one week she leaves, there's no skate-off]. I think she could have saved herself if there was a skate-off."

Tonight's skate-off wasn't Ekin-Su's first, as she'd previously faced off against former football pro John Fashanu.

On that occasion the judges chose to save Ekin-Su and Brendyn over John and Alexandra Schauman.

The judges ultimately chose to save the Love Islander winner on the basis that she included "more technical skating in her routine.”

"I think you are the most improved skater since bootcamp. You were a liability in bootcamp, but you made it, you were steady out there,” Olympic skater Christopher told John.
