Dancing On Ice’s Dan Whiston expects Maura Higgins and Joe Swash to engage in ‘psychological warfare’

I don’t know whether Love Island's Maura Higgins was more nervous she’d fall on the ice or more worried about getting a higher score than Joe Swash.

From watching what they’re like in each others company, next week I’m fully expecting them to step up the rivalry between them and step up the psychological warfare.

I think John Barrowman is a 'fabulous' addition to the judging panel. He told me the other day that he will not be afraid of speaking his mind, and he certainly did just that when he told ITV news presenter Lucrezia Millarini, that she needs to put her blades down more onto the ice next week.

This week ex-footballer Kevin Kilbane and pro Brianne Delcourt confirmed they were not only partners on the ice but off the ice too.

They’re so loved up! Even when Kevin’s head got grazed by the glittery football used in his choreography, Brianne still looked at him with doe eyes.

I’ve been friend’s with Brianne for many years, so it’s really lovely to see her so happy. They make a lovely couple and are often spotted having a cheeky smooch backstage.

During training this week, Perri Keily’s professional partner Vanessa Bauer had a horror fall that resulted in her hitting her face on the barrier.

Sadly she was unable to perform this Sunday, so it meant poor Perri had to skate in the cast number on his own.

Whilst Perri had to be super focused during the group performance, some of the girls and H found it really hard to concentrate as Sylvain skated out of a fake tan booth wearing nothing but a small towel…. for some reason they found this distracting?!

Caprice injured her shoulder during rehearsals the day before the live show and had to have it taped up.

I might start calling her Little Bo Peep because with her shoulder strapped up she looked a bit like the Toy Story 4 character! You’d never have known it though, as Christopher Dean said, she looked so serene on the ice.

I really felt for Radzi Chinyangya because he was a last minute replacement for Michael Barrymore he’s been playing catch-up with the other contestants. But he went out and surprised himself by putting on a solid performance.

Libby Clegg MBE is doing unbelievably well, topping the leaderboard and I’m in awe of her 'can do' attitude.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget she’s blind, like the other day after rehearsing when Libby skated over to the judges desk where I was sat and started patting the desk down to find her water bottle.

It was only then that I remembered she can’t see. Her skating is of such a high standard and she seems so confident on the ice that perhaps we don’t realise the enormity of the feat she’s pulling off.

Sadly we said goodbye to Trisha who lost out to Lucrezia in the skate-off. I think next Sunday’s show when all the celebrities compete against each other is going to be incredibly dramatic.
