Dan Wootton ‘tried not to cry’ and showed ‘anger’ as he addressed allegations

GB News presenter Dan Wootton showed signs of "anger" and "tried not to cry" as he responded to allegations made against him by his ex-partner live on air.

The 40-year-old presenter opened Tuesday's (July 18) episode of Dan Wootton Tonight with a lengthy statement issued to viewers.

Wootton has been the focus of recent allegations that he offered money to colleagues for videos of sexual activity.

He didn't directly address the specifics of the allegations but branded claims on social media about him a "smear campaign" by "nefarious players with an axe to grind".

In his statement, which ran to more than six minutes on the programme, the journalist said he felt "uncomfortable being the story".

Analysing the statement, celebrity psychic and body language expert Inbaal Honigman claimed to Daily Star: "When he shares personal views he employs very honest and heartfelt body language, especially when talking about his past experience of domestic abuse and also when he talks about other media outlets who are trying to damage his reputation.

"As he mentions the historic abuse by an ex-partner, his voice cracks with genuine emotion and he exhales deeply immediately afterwards, pleased that he has unburdened himself from a secret, but disheartened that he had to do it so publicly.

"His chin stiffens when he mentions his ex partner’s actions, revealing that he’s trying not to cry."

Inbaal claimed: "His tongue sticks to the roof of his mouth momentarily, once or twice, so his mouth is dry with the nerves of sharing his trauma with the viewers.

"When he talks about people, channels and newspapers who are trying to discredit him, he shows anger, curling his lip and exposing his teeth, and dismay, with a wry sideways smile."

Wootton's ex Alex Trubes has since responded to the presenter's claims on Twitter.

He wrote: "This evening @danwootton has said in his lead segment on @GBNews that I 'abused him' and have made up some very serious allegations just to get him 'cancelled'. This is false.
