David Platt will be sent to prison for months in a shocking twist to Coronation Street’s rape storyline.
Rather than his attacker Josh Tucker being sent down, it’s actually his traumatised victim who will be put behind bars.
A warrant is issued for David’s arrest when he misses his court date after his brutal attack on Gary Windass at the boxing fundraiser.
The fragile hairdresser, who hands himself into the authorities, will be jailed because he can’t be trusted not to run away.
Corrie viewers will be left fearing for David as he is forced to deal with prison troubles and his ongoing mental instability in scenes set to air next month.
A Corrie insider told the Daily Star : “David’s head is all over the place and he completely forgets he is due in court.
“He hands himself in the following day, but it’s too late. The courts do not take kindly to anyone failing to turn up and he is put on remand until his trial.
“He could be inside for months, which is going to be heartbreaking to watch given everything he is going through.”
Emotional David will plead with his lawyer to find some way of getting his freedom back but the damage is already done.
Distraught David is told that he will be on remand until another court date becomes available.
This will leave him potentially facing months behind bars, which will only add to his mental anguish.
While David is banged up, his attacker will be free to roam the streets of Weatherfield.
Evil Josh , who has been tormenting his victim ever since he drugged and raped him, will even start going on dates with Alya Nazir.
Will poor David ever be able to reveal exactly what happened?
