The hairdresser – who is played by actor Jack P. Shepherd in the itv soap – has been suffering horrifically after he was drugged and sexually assaulted by Josh Tucker.
But when he faced Gary Windass in the ring at a charity boxing match, Josh was refereeing and David saw red, viciously beating Gary to within an inch of his life.
And now while he faces prison for what, Gary is trying to get to the bottom of what is behind David's extreme behaviour.
"You've got me, I'm really struggling with the death of Kylie," he told Gary.
However, David's confession won't be enough to save him from going to prison.
With his head full of the rape trauma, David forgets he is due in court and misses a crucial hearing.
Not understanding why, the court issues an arrest warrant and David faces months in prison lone.
A Corrie insider told Daily Star: “David’s head is all over the place and he completely forgets he is due in
“He could be inside for months, which is going to be heartbreaking to watch given everything he is going through.”
After turning himself into police David is told he will remain in jail after breaking his bail conditions.
Despite begging his lawyer "just get me out of here", David is told: “That’s not going to be happening any time soon.
"You’re a flight risk now. I’m sorry David, as far as the system is concerned you can’t be trusted.”
"You’re on remand until a court date becomes available. I’m sorry.
“Just keep your nose clean. You need all the brownie points you can get.”
The horror of his attack by Josh Tucker appeared to be finally taking its toll on his mental state in Friday's episode.
Soap fans cried as they watched him break down in a cupboard as he finally let his emotions out.
