CORONATION Street will be seeing some big names return to the cobbles.
With some huge storylines lined up for the rest of 2022, here’s everything you need to know about the ITV soap’s latest comings and goings.
Mimi Whittaker (Margot Leicester) – joined
Margot was picked to take on the role of Phil's (Jamie Kenna) mother Mimi.
The character made her first appearance on Coronation Street on December 3, 2021 as Phil told Fiz his mother would be visiting them.
Her entrance did not go unnoticed as Mimi was in the company of her dog Coco.
Marrium Nazir (Kiran Landa) – joined
The ex-wife of Zeedan Nazir, Marrium arrived in Weatherfield on her own in December, 2021.
She came to apologise to her ex-husband for her father and brothers' behaviour.
But while she is eager to giver their marriage another chance, forgiving Zeedan for the cheating that led to their separation, Marrium has no idea he left her father Hashim to die alongside his sister Alya.
Speaking of which, the young woman is less than happy to see her brother rekindle his relationship with Marrium and is determined to protect her family.
Lydia Chambers (Rebecca Ryan) – joined
Rebecca has been added to the Corrie line-up in December, 2021, when her character Lydia befriends Sarah Barlow.
Things become awkward very quickly as Lydia eventually admits to Sarah he has had a fling with her husband Adam while they were at university.
While Sarah is not happy about the revelation, she decides to keep seeing Lydia.
However, some viewers are convinced that Adam could be the father of Lydia's son Finn, while the new character does not seem impressed by Sarah and her hubby.
Curtis Delamere (Sam Retford) – returning?
Curtis' lies caught up with him and Weatherfield residents were quick to realise he was not dying after all.
Leaving Weatherfield after being dumped by Emma, Curtis made a surprise reapparance on New Year's Eve.
While Emma apologised to him after accusing him of stealing money from her brother's charity fund, she soon found out he was back to his old deceitful ways.
Realising that their relationship could never be the same, both characters said their goodbyes.
But following Ted's death, fans are speculating that Curtis' storyline is far from over and that he could return to Coronation Street… under a new name.
Hashim Elamin (Vincent Ebrahim) – left
Hashim came to Weatherfield after his son-in-law Zeedan returned to the cobbles in September, 2021.
He was one of the main antagonists of the end of year, pushing Zeedan to launder money out of Speed Daal and laundering money out of the restaurant before working on a plot to set fire to the establishment to collect the insurance money.
Hashim took his final breaths after a heart attack which proved to be fatal when Alya convinced her brother to leave him to die, leading her to a feeling of overwhelming guilt.
Needless to say Hashim will not be returning.
Stefan Brent (Paul Opacic) – left
After appearing in both Emmerdale and Hollyoaks, Paul joined the cast of Coronation Street, making his appearance in the programme on April 26, 2021.
The actor took on the role of Stefan Brent, the father of bad boy Corey.
His appearance on the show was short however, as he left the soap on November 5, 2021.
During his time in Weatherfield, Stefan tried all that he could to keep his son Corey from prison after Seb Franklin and Nina Lucas' assault and the former's subsequent death.
Stefan's departure coincided with Corey's exit from the show.
