Joe Alwyn will play the lead character of Nick Conway.

Jemima Kirke as Melissa
Jemima Kirke will star as Melissa in the new show.

What is the series based on?
Rooney has become one of the most well-known authors in the literary world.
Rooney’s debut novel Conversations with Friends follows the life of two best friends and former lovers Frances and Bobbi, who recite poetry together at a Dublin university.
They later form afriendship with an older married couple, journalist Melissa and actor Nick which puts their relationship in jeopardy.
While Bobbi defends Melissa and distances herself from Frances, Frances and Nick have a secret romantic relationship.
When does Conversations with Friends premiere on Hulu?
Back in April 12, 2022, an official trailer was released and gave fans a peek of what to expect on the new show.
The show is to be released on May 15, 2022, on both Hulu and BBC Three.
Stills of the characters on a European vacation, as well as a look at Oliver and Alwyn in character, have been released via Vanity Fair.
Conversations with Friends is directed by Irish filmmaker Lenny Abrahamson – who is best known for his film Room – and written by screenwriter Alice Birch, who worked with Rooney on the screenplay for Normal People.
Ahead of the premiere, Lenny told The Hollywood Reporter: "Conversations is really a coming-of-age story."
"Centering on Frances, who is trying to figure herself out… it’s prepared to challenge the viewer’s own sense of what is good or right in various situations."
