Bradley Walsh was joined by four new contestants on The Chase on Wednesday as Simon, Sharon, Hugo and Louis battled it out against Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan. However, the ITV quiz host was taken aback when Sharon made a surprising revelation about her ancestry as she opened up about her hobbies.

Welcoming Sharon onto the show, Bradley asked: “Whereabouts are you from?”

“I’m from Leeds,” she replied and he added: “What do you do for a living?”

“I’m an actor,” she answered. “Independent stuff, mainly films, short films things like that.”

“Anything of note you’ve been in recently that we would know?” Bradley asked

“Probably not,” Sharon said. “I have got a film coming out fairly soon called Remember Remember – I played a vampire in that one.”

“What do you do to relax?” The Chase host probed and she revealed: “I love writing poetry.

“My distance ancestor was Lord Byron so I think I get the poetry writing from him.”

“You’re kidding,” Bradley commented. “Wow, that is extraordinary.”

“He was mad, bad and dangerous to know and I’m trying to live up to his reputation,” Sharon quipped.

Explaining what she would spend on any potential winnings, she added: “My dad wrote his autobiography last year.”

“What does your dad do?” Bradley questioned and she answered: “It’s called Incidents and Accidents so I’ll leave that to your imagination.

“But I want to turn that into a feature film and hopefully play my mum in that.”

The first contestant Simon had already failed to make it through to the final and Sharon followed suit.

Hugo was next up after earning £6,000 in his cash builder but he too was beaten by the Chaser.

Luckily, Louis was able to secure his spot in the final and added £6,000 to the cash prize fund after beating Jenny.

Following his victory, the contestant joked the final would be “a quick one”.

Congratulating him, the Chaser said: “Very well done you held your nerve there where the rest of your teammates managed not to so all credit to you. This is going to be a very fun final chase.”

“But a quick one,” Louis joked before Bradley hit back: “Don’t tell her that what’s a matter with you? Where’s your poker face?”

“Maybe this is part of my poker face, a double bluff,” Louis quipped.

Unfortunately, Louis was defeated by Jenny after answering 11 questions correctly.

The Chase airs on ITV on weekdays at 5pm.
