BOBBY Davro has revealed his heartache as the coronavirus pandemic continues to force him apart from his "fading" elderly dad.
The TV star's father Bill, 95, lives in a care home and strict guidelines prevent the 62-year-old from visiting.
Speaking to the Daily Star, Bobby said: “This has been the worst year of my life. Talking about it upsets me.
“It is truly awful because he is fading as the days go by. They won’t have tests until the new year. I just hope he can hold on."
The happy-go-lucky personality admits he has struggled adapting to the restrictive way of life, which has left him sad and angry.
He has done the best he can in the circumstances, calling his dad regularly, and when restrictions ease over Christmas, he is hopeful of finally visiting in person.
“I hope he has a few more months," said Bobby. "If he got the virus he wouldn’t stand a chance.”
The Government has rolled out rapid testing at registered homes so that residents can be visited by two people twice per week.
Its website explains: "Welcoming people into care homes from the community inevitably brings infection risk. But that is a risk that care homes can mitigate. It is a risk that should be balanced against the importance of visiting and the benefits it brings to care home residents and their families.
"Visiting should be supported and enabled wherever it is possible to do so safely – in line with this guidance and within a care home environment that takes proportionate steps to manage risks."
Bobby is currently part of The Showbiz Chrsitmas Tour alongside Alex Reid and Big Brother star Simon Gross.
The trio are performing festive tunes for elderly residents in care homes in aid of Age UK, and Simon has also released a Christmas track Showbiz Christmas to support the charity.
