BBC Breakfast host makes long-awaited return as fans celebrate shake-up

Luxmy Gopal tells Hugh Ferris ‘you’re not getting paid for both’

BBC Breakfast fans were delighted when broadcaster Luxmy Gopal made a return to the flagship news programme in a show shake-up.

The 31-year-old was presenting Sunday’s instalment of the programme alongside regular weekend anchor Ben Boulos, 39.

She teased her latest BBC Breakfast appearance with her social media followers after sharing a picture of herself and Ben in the newly refurbished studio.

Luxmy captioned the Twitter post: “Rise and shine sleeping beauties!

“Good morning from a reflective @BBCBreakfast studio with me and @BenMBoulos.”

Viewers were quick to comment on the journalist’s return to the programme as she has not been on it for a while.

Paul added: “So lovely to see you this morning again! And you look radiant Luxmy!”

Luxmy seemed in high spirits during the latest episode of the news programme and even make a cheeky jibe at her co-star.

When sports presenter Hugh Ferris jokingly took over the weather segment, Luxmy quipped: “Look at that, two jobs Hugh. You’re not going to get paid for both of them though, sorry.

“If you want to ask Louise about the sport go ahead,” Hugh replied to Luxmy.

Ben chimed in: “As Hugh said, Louise has got a more detailed look at the weather.”

Naga Munchetty hosted Saturday’s BBC Breakfast but she was nowhere to be seen on Sunday, neither was her regular co-host Charlie Stayt.

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One between 6am and 9am.
